So my Middle Aged Dad is having diarrhea and indigestion every single day.
We don’t know what provoked this. And no over the counter meds have helped him.
He doesn’t even want to see a doctor because he’s too proud.

WHAT CAN WE DO
For how long? Chronic diarrhea is extremely dehydrating and that alone is enough to land him in the ER to see a doctor whether he wants to or not. I have IBD. I know several people who died of colon cancer that had the same kinds of symptoms he is exhibiting, and they refused to see a doctor until it was too late. If it's nothing, it's nothing, but he needs to know what it is.
He should get it diagnosed, then decide how to respond. It's not like he has to let doctors run his life; he just needs to understand what he's dealing with and doctors have access to the tests that can give him that information. It may be that he is feeling embarrassed because of the nature of the problem, but it's best to find out sooner than later.
He can check out the forum for Crohn's disease or Ulcerative Colitis on HealingWell. Those people are anonymous and very helpful with offering insight in a private manner and they have tons of experience. They are very hard on pseudoscience as well, so he won't get that kind of nonsense there.
I am not diagnosing what he has; it could be a number of things, but that's the point. Before he gets too far off on a rabbit trail, he needs a proper diagnosis from a gastroenterologist. It can take a long time to get an appointment, so the sooner he gets a referral, the better.
He might have a parasite called Giardia Lamblia.
My son had one for the first two years of his life, and constant diarrhea is a big symptom of a parasite.
When they finally diagnosed my son, all he had to do was taken a few pills for three days and the medicine killed it. My roommate and I had to take the pills too as a precautionary measure.
Some people have a colon cleanse to get rid of parasites they might have and now know about.
Maybe if you tell him he might have a parasite and the cure is a few pills a day for three days he might be willing to go to the doctor.
I used to have constant diarrhea. It was a result of anxiety, too little exercise, and some medicine I'd been taking. My way out of it was to get away from drinking so often, exercise more, eat more fiber, take a B-complex vitamin and ashwagandha, and get away from the meds to the extent I was able.
The ashwagandha and B-complex vitamin are important because the b-complex is generally used to help relieve IBS symptoms, and then the ashwagandha reduces the amount of cortisol (the stress hormone) in your body. IBS is partially caused by anxiety and having too much stress.
After that, the reducing my medication was important because the stuff I was taking had a tendency to irritate my gut. It was literally burning a hole in my organs and stuff.
The most important shift I made was the regular exercise and the plant based diet. Having that extra fiber is so important.
Many causes for chronic diarrhea. See a doc. He will get weak and anemic if it continues

Look at what he s eating. As well as food allergies there are food intolerances. I was having green tea at work and i started having gastric problems. A few months later I realized I wasn't. I had got tired of green tea and gone back to coffee.
if it had been one cup of green tea and I was belching and farting then it would have been obvious but intolerances can be subtle. Cut out anything new and try for plain food.
He should go to a doctor as it could be any number of things including cancer I imagine. Not that I have any medical knowledge.
Have you been consuming items that he might be unfamiliar with? Almost all publicly available non water in U. S. is potable so probably not that. Has he travelled anywhere exotic recently? May cases showing symptoms like that are caused by parasites. In the meantime Lower antics or Imodium taken as necessity might ameliorate symptoms. make me appt.-or go to ER. Make sure is stays hydrated because that can help kidneys et al. Even better than water are drinks like Pedialyte which replenish electrolytes. Juice watered down would usual my work to cover both. Cigarettes and alcohol should not be consumed until problem is solved as they dehydrate body.
Did he take the experimental COVID-19 vaccine? I've heard of multiple people that took it who now have long term gastrointestinal issues.
He did lmao, I told him not to. But he took it and also the booster. Like 2020. That’s 4 years ago.
He’s living in a 3rd world country. So maybe it’s something contaminated he ate
Every day for how long? Eventually he deydrates and that's bad. This kills many people each year... must drink electrolytes.
I have no idea... something not right...
He probably just has IBS. It’s caused by stress and anxiety and boy is it a pain in the ass
I would say that a symptom is “chronic” when linked to an illness or disease. Few friends have diseases like Chrohns that are…intestinal, or digestion illness…not sure I want to know that much. But I imagine it’s shit. Lol
If he refuses to see a doctor you can only wait for him to collapse and take him to the ER.
It means you’re not leaving the bathroom.
He has a serious illness. See a doctor.
YOU can't do anything. He need to fix it
No big deal he’ll be OK
