Can someone who has schizophrenia study medicine?

Last count I heard that there are 5 different types of schizophrenia. So they symptoms vary. Taking psych meds usually causes Tardive Dyskinesia which is a strong side effect of psych meds.
It cause twitching in your body, shaking hands that doesn't stop, and you still have the hallucinations and visions of grandeur.
So, I would have to say to choose something different that these problems won't interfere with.

Well if you can function. I've met a lot of people with schizophrenia who need care and can't really do a lot. They need all their energy just to get by and deal with their illness. But if you have the capability to do it then I think it should be possible. It will be very challenging though no doubt.

i used to get mild schizo, and iam studying psychology, you’ll be fine, but the comments below were right, to be a doctor you must be healthy mentally and physically
