I pick my both fingers thumb skin when I’m anxious how can I prevent this? fidgets don’t work I’m always in pain from it?

Oh man, I totally feel you on the skin picking thing. That's got to be so frustrating, especially when the fidget toys don't seem to help. I know how tempting it can be to just pick at your fingers when you're feeling anxious or stressed out.
But I also know how much pain and discomfort that can cause in the long run. Those raw, irritated skin patches are the worst!
Have you tried any other techniques besides just fidget toys? There are a bunch of different strategies that can help curb that skin picking habit.
One thing that might work is keeping your hands busy in other ways - like squeezing a stress ball, twisting a rubber band, or even just clenching and unclenching your fists. The key is finding something repetitive to do with your hands that doesn't involve skin picking.
You could also try wearing bandages or gloves when you know you're going to be in a situation that triggers the anxiety and skin picking. That physical barrier can make it a lot harder to actually pick at your skin.
And don't underestimate the power of just taking some deep breaths when you feel that urge coming on. Slow, steady breathing can work wonders to calm your mind and body, and interrupt the skin picking cycle.
I know it's not an easy habit to break, but try not to get discouraged. Take it one day at a time, and celebrate the small victories. Every time you resist the urge to pick, that's a win!
And don't be afraid to reach out for support, either from friends/family or even a therapist. They can help you develop healthier coping mechanisms and work through the root causes of the anxiety.
You've got this, girl. I believe in you! Just keep being patient and gentle with yourself. The pain and irritation will start to fade if you stick with it. Sending positive vibes your way!
To curb anxious finger skin picking, first, pinpoint your triggers (situations, feelings) and increase awareness of when it occurs. Then, use barrier methods like bandages or gloves, try competing responses like specific hand fidgets or exercises, and manage stress with techniques like deep breathing or mindfulness. If needed, seek professional help from a therapist for CBT or a doctor for skin damage. Remember, be patient and compassionate with yourself throughout the process.
