Nope. I started training with Police Athletic League as a kid. The objective was to win. We trained Freestyle, Folk style, and Greco-Roman wrestling 3 days a week based on season all year long. We cross trained in Judo or boxing 2 days a week. We competed every weekend. No breaks when school was out. Just winning. If there was a tournament on Saturday we were at that one all day. If there was another one on Sunday, then we'd go to that one as well. It didn't matter if we had to drive 5 hours to get to it. If there was no tournament on Sunday, we were training with a member of the US Olympic Team who was basically training and scouting for future Olympians among us. We were the top ranked team in the state.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/tAyZnlWApVUThat's a good combination of skillsets. Cross-training completely different styles of martial arts is always a good thing.
My primary style is Isshinryu karate and Japanese Jiu Jitsu, but I am "cross trained" in the following:
Judo
Tai Chi (50 hours seminar under a GM)
Hindi Andi Gung Fu (200 seminar hours under a GM)
Boxing
Kickboxing
Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (1.5 years under Raphael Elwanger who is cousin of Royce Gracie.)
Traditional Kobudo weapons
Eskrima stick fighting
By definition, Isshinryu Karate encourages one to cross-train and combine the best of all styles.

Well, I'll explain.
White belt is supposed to know all basic strikes, blocks, head movement, basic combinations, and one brutal submission.
Orange Belt is required to be able to beat two white belts in a handicap match and knows around 40 submissions.
Light Green Belt is required to beat two orange belts in a handicap and knows around 80 submissions.
Purple Belt is required to beat two light green belts in a handicap and knows around 120 submissions.
2nd Degree Brown Belt (2nd kyu) should be able to beat two purple belts in handicap, and knows around 160 total submissions.
1st Dan should beat two 2nd kyus in a handicap and knows around 200 total submissions.
3rd Dan should beat two 1st dans. And is required to know every pressure point on the human body.
4th Dan should beat two 2nd Dans.
After 4th Dan the exponential scale ends and ranks above 4th Dan are mostly about teaching standards and new syllabus.
