Why do people freak out over a little cold?

My friend told me she may not be able to hang this weekend because she could a cold but it isn’t too bad. She told me she might have caught something from her cruise trip. I mean you can’t stay home or flake out on plans just because of a little cough. I told her, “Oh come on! You asked if we wanted to hang out this weekend if you don’t get sick. I said yes. People freak out on a little cold and stay home. Suck it up. Just let me know how you feel.”
She said her throat is starting to hurt and her cough won’t go away.
I haven’t seen her in a month. I miss her. I understand if she’s sick but you can’t stay home over a little cough.
Do you think I’m being insensitive.

I think about it like this; no offense... when a person calls out of work for being sick let's say they are lying and not sick. The reason they called out of work is because work is not easy. It's really not easy when you are sick but, even not sick a person calls out when they just don't want to do something cause it's not easy. I'm not trying to say your friend is lying but if I were you I'd me a little more aware that what you want might not be what someone else wants... thats just how it is sometimes. So yes I'd say you maybe a little insensitive to your friends needs vs your own needs...

you still have to respect someones wishes tho. colds usually make people tired so i get not wanting to hangout
