Years upon years of training and discipline. Look at Olympic athletes, for example. Many of them started their sport when they were literally a toddler. That’s why they end up being so good.

A lot of sacrifice and determination. Depending on the sport, it also means a rather short career and possible physical injuries that will last a lifetime.
