Why do little things hurt so much?

Ok, so, like, this morning I was putting wood in the wood stove 'cuz it's still friggen cold in the mornings but not as cold as it has been all friggen winter like I bitched about so I won't bitch about it quite as much now.

And, anyways, I got a splinter in my little finger. That's right. A horrific, terrible, apocalyptic, cataclysmic, shower-me-with-sympathy-good-excuse-for-drinking splinter. I mean, it's little and I can hardly see it but it's deep enough so I can't get it out. Even with peroxide. And it hurts. A lot. And I'm sure I'm prolly just gonna' die.

So, from my death bed, in angst and agony and award-winning, overdramatic, overacting , I ask, Why do little things hurt so much?

Actual simulation of Random being an attention-seeking, drama queen.

Well, it seems I didn't die after all and today it's fine and it might not have been quite as bad as I might have made it out to be but TY all for the replies and attention! 😊
