Is breathing in incense smoke harmful to your health?

My mum would light incense sticks (especially mogra ones) every morning after prayer. From the time I was a baby to turning into an adult.. It never really affected my health. But then again, she would keep the windows, and door open. We also had lot of plants in our home. So, I didn't feel suffocated or uncomfortable.

But having said that, I have read somewhere that it can increase the risk of cognitive issues, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease and few other issues. So, don't sit too close. Keep the windows and door open. Also, don't light more than one person day.

Yeah, smoke is smoke. It's all carbon from burnt organic compounds. Same with a fireplace, campfire, or a charcoal grill. Breathe enough of it and you'll do some damage. But not many people sit there with their face over burning incense sucking in the fumes directly. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Surely smoke of any kind is not good for your lungs, even if it smells good. They use chemicals to create the aroma. Breathing burnt chemicals and woody material isn't what our bodies evolved to inhale.
