+1 yYes I did my tonsils were always getting infections they also took the adnoids out. I guess I had a low level of some kind of cancer in my tonsils as well so the white was not just infection. I was going to the Dr a lot. Antibiotics didn't work and I am allergic to penicillin. I have to say I feel a lot better now I haven't been to the Dr for my tonsils in about 3 months since I got them out it was worth it and the recovery was not that bad at all.

+1 yYes, my tonsils and adnoids stayed consitantly swollen. Feel better but I guess it bothered me a bit that I am a female and my voice deepened a little because of it although I guess most people don't notice. Also, I was 16 which made it a little rougher to recover, but not having the problems I did before, it was worth it.

I had removed my tonsills for many years, because I had trouble with it very often. After the removal my nose made problems with imflammations. So I made my own cure with homeopathy. Since this time I have no problems any more.
It makes sense to save the tonsills, but only if they are not destroyed very much. Destroying means a lot of holes inside them. Then the time for their is really over.21 Reply- +1 y

i have a kind of funny story about when I had mine removed. Well I found out sedatives don't work on me very well. They had to use like double what they normally do to put me under. Then pretty much right after surgery I woke up. And my numb so I couldn't talk and I wanted water. So I got up and stumbled to find someone and everyone started to freak out because I was covered in blood still lol. I guess I wasn't suppose to wake up for like two more hours

+1 yI got mine taken out when I was 8, I don't feel any different, I just don't get sick as often. In general it has improved my life.
10 ReplyI had mine removed when I was 15. I don't feel any different. The only difference is I get sick much less often, haha.
10 ReplyI haven't but I need to. I'm constantly getting tonsillitis. But I'm too scared to get them out because I have this fear that when they put me under I'll still be awake and just unable to move and I'll feel the whole thing :S

I had mine out a few months ago its not that bad at all. They also put something to watch your brain waves to make sure your under that's what they did with me and its the best thing I could of ever done.

+1 yYes, I did, a while ago.
And yes, I do feel different. I have stopped getting so sick so often, especially strep throat and pneumonia, because the tonsils often serve as sacs of bacteria that can get you very sick.10 Reply
Anonymous(36-45)+1 yafter the surgery it hurts, but when you heal, its no different.

hahaha, you and I should get our tonsils taken out for kicks! =D
- +1 y
No way! They are the first line of defense for inhaled or ingested pathogens. I would only get them out if they were chronically infected. I like ice cream, but not enough to compromise my immune system for it. =)
