I just invested in health insurance...u nevvver kno when itll come in handle...my gyno never told me they were gonna test me and I nevered asked to.

they kno I was un-insuranced. I paid a couple hundred for the doctor vist then got a lovely $1,900 billfrom the lab company in the mail the oother week...i had no idea! I mean I'm happy I know I'm completey clean but $1,900 for lap work! insaneee. I actually got tested last year and wasn't even close to that much only $300 ...

I don't, when I get sick I go to the walk in clinic that's only if I'm really sick

it's like $75 dollars a visit and I might go twice a year.

And if I have an emergency I go to the hospital, only had that happen like once in 10 years, the bill was like $2,000 dollars so I just paid that off.

Either way it's cheaper without the insurance, the cheapest insurance I could find was almost $200 dollars a month, why spend that when I only go twice a year and can pay in full

If for some reason I do need to go to the hospital, well it depends. Duck tape works great, I can also stich myself if needed.

I know how to handle broken bones as well. If it needs setting I have friends of my family that are doctors who would do it for me and not charge for it.

I think if your an older man or woman in 40s to 50s its intelligent too have health insurance. Right now I feel as though its unnecessary.

I am lucky enough to live in the UK where we have the NHS...which to me is vital and I think every country should have one.

(Although our stupid gov at the moment is trying to change it, even though 95% of Drs/nurses and experts say what they are doing is wrong!)

NHS is health care provided from the British government and funded by taxation.

The "problems" are over stated, but are the same problems which are experienced globally and caused by private companies getting involved. Eg- cleaning companies not cleaning properly etc so infections. But generally the nhs is VERY good!

well, everyone working pays National Health Insurance- depending on your income decides how much you pay.

Then everything to do with hospitals/doctors is free. Dentist is heavily subsidised. The most we will pay for any prescriptions is ?7.

But it is VERY good, of course we moan about it, but no matter what you have you can always improve so people do moan. but it is GREAT! Why should some have better healthcare becauase they are rich?

I think the biggest misconception about American health care is a spin-off of what you said- more well off people having health care. I mean obviously if you have the means then you'll have better healthcare. But the way we function, we are a confused society politically lol. We want small, hands-off government but everyone is running either for a government job or for government help. Maybe it's just what I'm used to, but I'm a bit weary of our government getting further involved.

Yes we have it but both of us are on SD's Risk Pool...which means we are paying $14,292.00 per year in premiums and each of us have a $3,000.00 deductible...but it is still better than going without...maybe when the Supreme Court thows out the Unaffordable Healthcare Hijack we can get REAL reform? But I am not at all confident...WAY too many a$$holes in Washington.../:

Yes I do, I get a very good health ins plan through work. Basically nothing I will ever need medically should ever set me back more than $50. Prescriptions are $5. Doctor visits are $20.
