Whats causing me to to break out ??

I just started using epiduo (a acne cream containing benzoyl peroxide ) 2 weeks ago , my acne has gotten worse , but this wensday I went to my Der and she gave me something new to try , it seems like my face has stopped breaking out ... I need help ! Do you think it was just my skin getting use to the epiduo and now its use to it that was causing it to break out ? Do you think it was the new stuff fixing the problem ?

I'm not sure what the different chemicals you are using are; however, I am familiar with the majority of them and the general causes of acne. You would need to provide more information and analyze other factors to fully determine whether or not it was the prescription the Dermatologist gave you that ultimately solved your problem. However, I would say that more than likely the Dermatologist gave you Differin, which is a very effective prescription when used correctly. If the Dermatologist gave you an antibiotic (you didn't mention this but it is occasionally prescribed with Differin), then it was likely tetracycline or doxycycline. Both of these are also quite useful in reducing and stopping acne.

However, varying lifestyle factors will impact breakouts quite easily. If you're not getting enough sleep. Not getting the nutrients your skin needs (these can be looked up readily if you are unaware of them). There are many dietary factors that affect your skin. As you are probably well-aware, washing your face regularly goes a long way. Ultimately, what causes the breakout is a certain type of bacteria and sebum production (this is what gives your skin an oily look if you haven't washed your face recently. The production is important for healthy skin, so don't try to keep your skin as dry as possible, either.)

Just keep using what the dermatologist proscribed; get regular amounts of sleep; drink plenty of water; and eat well-enough, and you will not have many problems.
