I don't agree with either. Sometimes people know how to eat well, and are, but are overweight for other reasons. The poll needs more options, so I didn't vote. I think in this day in age, most people know what is healthy and what is not. And being overweight is not as simple as just eating cheeseburgers everyday. It's a big generalization, and that is what is keeping people fat.
Being overweight is a more complicated issue than just eating bad. Some people eat okay, but don't exercise, as there are skinny people who eat terrible and never exercise. So it's not all about what you eat.
I know people are going to jump on me, because they don't believe what I say. But look at the food that is available now a days. It's not as good as it used to be, there are more preservatives, salt, chemicals and what not in the food. That in itself is messing around with our bodies, and can be a cause to make people overweight. Plus there are lots of health issues at play now a days. Back when my parents were little, we rarely heard of anybody having allergies, asthma, and other diseases. Those things are more prevalent, caused by a myriad of different things.
To me, it's just dangerous applying that generalization that it's simple to just eat healthy and not be overweight. Because I have lived life being overweight but eating healthy. I know people won't believe me, but I do have a condition. It's not easy to balance your weight when other factors are present. So it always angers me when people make such generalizations.
This is what I struggle with the most. I know how to eat healthy and I can preach it but struggle to live it. Every night I tell myself I'm going to eat better and really enjoy the thought of eating whole foods and fresh fruit and vegetables. It is the addiction of the high carb high fatty food I crave and struggle to break. It is like someone addicted to drugs trying to find a fix and how strong that craving is. I know that I am slowly killing myself and that does scare me espeacilly being a mom of 2 wonderful girls. You would think that would be enough for me to say enough is enough and it is it is just getting to a place of hope and reassurance that I can do this and break this vicious cycle of bad habits. I want people to know that yes I am fat but I'm fixable I just need people to be patient and understandable to the fact I am a skinny beautiful women dying inside a fat body and hope that over time I can achieve my goals of living life to the best and in a new healthy body, but until then I need the judging to stop and the stereotypes on fat people need to end once and for all because we are people too.
Overweight people can't control their unnatural urges to defile themselves through abject gluttony and won't rest until they become veritable pooping machines. Societies located in colder climes routinely leave these non-productive eaters out at night to die of exposure. This seems a bit cruel to me, because I find them to be jolly in a perverse way.
Overweight people do a lot of thinking and talking, and not a lot of "doing".
Thats the problem I see that is most prevalent. They can be very knowledgable, some even more knowledgable than a fit kid out of High School. The problem is they forget to move their ass and drop the donuts. That takes motivation and sacrifice.

With all the information that is being spread about loosing weight and living healthy there is no way they don't know what food is not healthy and that you need to work out to stay fit.
The reason why not all people eat healthy I believe is that they are comfortable and used to having the lifestyle they have. My uncle said he would rather be fat and be able to eat all the cake he wants and live a few years less than to be skinny live longer and not eat cake at all. It is about what you value in life.
Another part of it I think is that even if they want to change and start living more healthy and they know what a healthy lifestyle would be they usually don't know where to start or how to incorporate the healthy living into their lives as they are just too set in their ways. Or they do drastic changes like diets which don't work in the long run.
I voted B.
The majority of people nowadays know what is considered healthy and what isn't. Such as high sodium = bad, etc.
Ultimately I think it comes down to a lack of willpower and/or laziness (given that a medical condition isn't involved). It's hard to give up the fatty foods, it's hard to eat less, it's hard to pay attention to nutrition facts, it's hard to like vegetables. Nobody would have a problem being fit and healthy if it were easy. It requires a conscious effort to change the way we eat, unfortunately some people don't have the patience and drive to do it.
I know how to lose weight and eat healthy etc better than the average person but I do admit I just splurge and eat sweets/carbs etc because I want to. I'm not obese or anything but I hate dieting... I can commit but I end up miserable cause I hate the taste of most healthy foods, even when prepared well. I think many just struggle with motivation and the fact that healthy food is time consuming to make and not always tasty..
I reckon people who are overweight are aware of what's healthy however, the body gets in to a routine and the norm becomes fast food and other high in fat products which can become somewhat addictive and the cycle can be hard to break if you've been eating unhealthy products for a long time, it can be a giant step to change from that to vegetables, it's all about motivating drive and commitment which I believe some people just don't have it in them, even if it's for the greater good.
I'm positive that overweight people know how to eat healthy. Their demise usually is the self control to do it. I was there once, its not that easy to stick with.
I think both factors come into play for different people. I think though that the majority of people might know how to eat better but don't do it for various reasons.
Everyone as a good idea of what's healthy and what isn't, it's not rocket science. It's just that some people are really busy so they find it hard to cook so they just get fast food, others just simply don't know how to cook but hey what are cook books for and some can't afford the healthy food, junk food is always cheaper and there's many other reasons too but I can't be bothered to write anymore.
I think it has more to do with self control and portion sizes because for example my dad is overweight and he eats healthy but just WAY too much.
i myself when I was over weight, I knew how to eat healthy but just didn't "feel like" doing it now I just eat healthy out of habit
probably most know how to eat healthy, but they probably just somehow don't do it
I just think there not as physically active as they should be, if I ate 3 meals a day or even less and didn't work out I'd be over weight too
