Ive never had a boyfriend before. ( 22 years old) ...and I feel like my weight and body shape is to blame.
What is your idea of an ideal attractive weight for a 5'6 22 year old girl?
You could, but it is hard to know without actually seeing you in person.
I think if you want to get a better idea, get your body fat percentage tested. Many gyms do this, and it's a great tool.
The great thing about getting a body fat% (fold test) test done, is that you can tell how much muscle vs fat that you have.
I always thought I was in decent shape until I got mine done and found out I was 29% body fat, which is healthy, but not where I want to be. Then I decided to change my goals, eat much better than I was and push harder in the gym.
If you go this route, it become less about the number on the scale, and more about overall health and physical fitness,
I do suggest weighing yourself on a regular basis. If you can weigh yourself every day and not let it determine your mood then go for it. Weight fluctuates every day, but it gives you a sense of accountability. Chances are you won't scarf down a huge chili dog if you know you gotta face the scale tomorrow ;).
Honestly, I don't think that you need to lose weight, there's nothing wrong with being
148 lbs! I'm probably around the same height as you and I weight 144 lbs and I may
have even gained a couple, who knows! But, everybody tells me I look good and I
might not always believe it, but I know I don't look as bad as I think I do and maybe
it's the same for you!
All I can tell you is, if it bothers you and you feel you need to lose weigh, then
do it for you! Not to get a boyfriend and not because you think you should! Do
it for you, if in your heart you feel you'd be happier and maybe healthier, then
do, but for you not for anyone else okay!
I hope I helped you somehow, have a good night, sweetheart! : )
Haha, thanks for your wise words ... I want to lose at least another 10 lbs... I feel like I am not particularly attractive in any respect, so I might as well have a fit body
Well, I've never seen what you look like, but i"m sure that you're just being hard on yourself.
And, they say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So, it only takes one guy to look
at you and think you're beautiful, have an amazing personality and that your body is perfect
the way it is. So, don't think you have lose weight to land a man, because it only takes one!
Plus, I want you to know that, not all guys are superficial jerks! Until I came on this site, I didn't
realize how many good ones are actually out there, so don't ever think your weigh will keep
you from dating, okay? But, obviously losing weigh is something you want to do, so I wish
you lot's of luck and I hope you reach your goal! Good Luck, sweetie! And if you ever want
to talk about anything, I'm always on here so just let me know! Have a great day! : )
Thanks :)
You're welcome! : )
I am 5'7 and on a bad day I'm 158. Don't worry! we are all built different, you gotta be confident in the body you were given. If you want to tone up a little then do it but don't because of what a scale says. I for one have always had people be shocked when they find out how much I really weigh. Weight tends to build up in the most random places. I was like you and thought I would lose some weigh hoping to tone my legs but instead I lost fat from my butt and now my pants don't fit :( so be happy ;) and confident!
I wouldn't necessarily say you have to lose more weight. I mean you are 5'6". The question is if the weight is from muscle. Muscle is more dense. If you are a solid 148 worth of muscle then you might be OK. If not and still want to lose the weight, I would try coming down to a healthy 130. At 5'6" anything less than 125 might be a little too skinny unless you want to be even skinnier.
Focus on a lot of cardio, eating right (protein based foods, veggies, fruits and some starch) and drinking a lot of water. Also when you lift weights do a lot of high reps low weight movements. This will help you sculpt your body and still give you some shape instead of being a complete stick, lol.

Personally, I think that's fine.

No. Your body is probably not to blame. It is probably that you are too self conscious and don't let yourself see the ones who do find you attractive.
Your weight, to me, seems fine.
You do notice that most of the guys who've answered this are in agreement, right? Guys don't typically judge as harshly as girls do, at least in my personal experience...
I think that I'm huuuuuuge, but my boyfriend is adamant that I'm not.
i guess that's true...oddly, it seems like I got a bit more attention from guys when I was heavier...probably because I grew boobs and a butt :p
I want to be 125-130 lbs, though...it would definitely make me less self conscious about my body.
Well, I am healthy, but sometimes I seem to lack energy, but I think that's just part of my personality... I know this sounds desperate and stupid, but my main reason for wanting to lose weight is so that I can look more attractive to boys and have more dating opportunities, not necessarily for my health
It's not really so much about weight with guys, as proportion and dressing for your body type. Guys actually seriously suck at guessing weight.
If you do it for your health, rather than for attention, you're more likely to get to your goal, because then being brushed off by a guy isn't going to set you off on the opposite path again.
I'm 5'6 115lbs naturally but look nice and fit. I think my weight is great and I have a bubble butt, only a b cup though(32b-25-35) If your body isn't small boned like me than 115lbs might not look good. I'm happy where I am but I'd never want to be more than 125. It's all about what you are comfortable with.
Wow, I could never go below 125lbs without starving myself or use laxatives... I was once 118 lbs, and I felt absolutely miserable even though I could fit into size 2 clothing!
I think your best bet is to post a picture.
because none of us knows where that fat is divided. It could be in your boobs or butt, or some of it could be muscle.
Yes, you should.
Around 125 pounds is a good weight for your height.
i've been 116 lbs before, everybody around me was asking me if I was anorexic...obviously my ideal weight is not under 120 lbs... I want to be 125 lbs eventually as well, but I'm scared of losing my butt and boobs -_______-
You won't lose your butt if you start squatting.
I am doing that these days... Hopefulyy all this work will pay off :/
I think 148 for your height is fine. But it also depends on your body shape. You would know better if there are any specific areas of your body you want to cut down on.
Your body is not to blame.
Your self-doubt probably is. Especially if it makes you shy.
hell no! your normal weight is nothing to be ashamed of.
Sounds heavy but depends on muscle level.
Waist/hip measurements would tell more. Or a photo.
Don't worry about weight so much as being fit.
If you live in unhealthy lifestyle that is something you need to change. The weight will follow.
yeah, its on the low end of overweight. 135-140 would be great,
Might wanna lose a little weight.
About how many more pounds?
depends, is it mostly muscle or fat?
I have a lot of muscle in my thighs and calves... My stomach and arms are a bit flabby... My most problematic spots :/
Can get a pic?
