Any one wear a retainer? Who has given up on theirs?

I stopped wearing a mine years ago and my teeth haven't moved... has anyone tried this?

As orthodontics is a business like any other they will f*** you over.

They will give braces to people who don't really need them. Hence if you get braces at say 13/14 once you reach adult hood your jaw size will not have increased anywhere near as much as it could. Nor will your upper cheek bones.

This isn't a problem for everyone. Girls can be hot regardless of braces. This is more of a warning for guys. Depending on genetics it may be more or less of a problem. If you have really strong facial features genetically it might not matter. If your family doesn't have super strong facial features then having braces will make the problem worse.

Don't get braces until your over 18.

It's actually harder for teeth to move as an adult

and? An adult has finished growing so it will not stunt their facial growth like it will with a person who is growing.

Once they move, you have to restart the retained, probably indefinitely...so why give up?

It's been a good year, year and half since I wore mine last. It doesn't fit anymore and my teeth haven't moved enough to need the retainer but I keep it just in case. If I ever need it, all they'll need to do is "shave" down the extra so that it will fit again. Other than that, I leave it alone. LOL *If it ain't broke, don't fix it!*

mine move slightly when not wearing them, but I don't mind it.. also I am lazy and forget to wear it

it's not going to come back. Your teeth will move, but not back to how they were prior to straightening.
