There's also all sorts of salads and vegetable soups and stews from different cultures.
Also, consider taking some vegetarian amino acid supplements to ensure your getting enough protein.
Hope this helps.
I don't think it's possible to "go vegetarian". good luck though!
It isn't? I'm not sure what grammar mistake I made but, whatever.
im just sayin'
Thanks though ha ha !
omg it is killing me that I can't comment on my own answer -_- You can do it for health reasons. That is fine. Being vegetarian doesn't have to turn into some religious thing. Go ahead and eat whatever you want... If you want to eat only veggies go right ahead lol Vegetarians are not vegans so they can still eat milk ,cheese and eggs maybe (good way to get protein) just as long as they don't eat the carcass of an animal :0 I eat almost an all vegetarian diet , because my body doesn't process red meat so well and I end up getting sick for days lol I also dislike pork and chicken, so what I am left with is turkey, fish/shellfish and some exotic meats (alligator) :D Anyway, do whatever feels best for yourself ^^
Thanks, I'm really sorry about all of that. I also got food poisoning from meats too. That is the my main reasoning.
eat peanut butter and beans often, they have a lot of protien
try to "fake" meats as well, its a easier way to "Ease" off of the regular stuff you are used to. many brands out there but I like morningstar best however bocca tastes the most like actual meat so that may help you best in transitioning
good luck and great choice
Look up recipes for stuffed poblano peppers they have only a mild spice to them you could always ad more if you like but they are SO delicious and don't require meat! I personally use mushrooms instead tho I'm not a vegetarian :)
And quesadillas with sauteed onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, and cheese

umm, your profile pic is a hot dog :0
Just go to your local book store and buy a vegetarian cook book. Also, a lot of japanese and indian food is also vegetarian. Fish and chicken are meats so if you eat those you are not vegetarian.
I forgot about my profile pic lol Some of friends who say they are 'vegetarians' eat fish and chicken (occasionally) so, I wasn't sure exactly what to eat.
Also, thank you so much for the cook book suggestion, I accidentally broke my printer today so, no online recipes for me! lol
lol then they aren't vegetarians.. they're just following a fad, which it sounds like you're doing
How is it a fad?
Because when you don't do it for moral reasons (and you can't do it for health reasons).. and you just do it cause Sindy and her friends are doing it, or because it makes you sound like you're eating healthy, and you want to be cool, or whatever... that's a fad.
No, I'm doing it because It was my choice, I've only met 2 "vegetarians" in my life and I was just going by what they said they ate so, I assumed it was okay. Also, I'm not doing it to sound "cool" because I want to. Most of the people I know eat meat anyway . I guess if I can't choose so for health reasons I guess I won't do it anyway. by the way What do you mean by "moral" reasons?
Not eating something with a face-- moral reasons. Health reasons-- it's less healthy than an omnivore diet, so that's hypocritical. And you're not becoming a vegetarian from what you said.. you're just not eating red meat anymore.. there's a large difference. So why would you describe yourself as a vegetarian despite its definition saying you're not one? That's why I say it's a fad. Something people want to be cause it's fashionable, popular, or whatever.. but in reality not themselves.

Are you giving up poultry and fish as well?
I may still eat both from time to time but it won't be a lot.
It's okay to eat fish and poultry, cause they don't have any feelings?
Really how are you becoming a vegetarian when the only thing you are eliminating is red meat?
It's like saying I'm a devout Christian, but I don't believe Jesus existed. It's like you completely changed the meaning of the word, just so you could say you are it, without actually having to be it.
and What do feelings have to do with anything? I heard red meat was unhealthy, that's why.
It's not. But regardless, the lack of eating red meat does not make you a vegetarian.. no matter how much you want the status and label so people think better of you or what not, a vegetarian by definition does not eat any meat-- that includes birds and fish.
I guess you're right about that, I have to give it all up. I don't want a status label I just needed help with suggestions. I think that it's been already established that fish and chicken are meat too. A person already told me that so, you don't have to tell me again or say "Oh you're just following a fad." You don't know me at all enough to say that. I've made the decision not to do it anymore because obviously my reasoning for being healthly hurts peoples feelings.
Well then maybe you're not following a fad, maybe you're just misinformed or confused. Because red meat isn't unhealthy. Over consumption is unhealthy, but that goes for any kind of meat or veggie. Small caloric portions of red meat in the diet are as good for you as equal portions of white meat.
Eggs, nuts, peanut butter and possibly fish.
