If someone contacts you out of the blue, do you think it's because they once valued you?

or that they have some selfish motive to contact you cause theyre lonely? it doesn't have to be romantic it could be about friendship too.

What if its a person that hurt you and ruined your life would you ignore them?

For me, when I contact people I hadn't contacted in a while, it's because I maybe saw their name on my list of contacts or had their name brought up in some conversation that suddenly reminded me about them. I try to keep in touch with all my friends so when there is someone I haven't contacted in a while and I remember, I immediately contact them, to let them know that I'm still thinking of them lol

I'm always suspicious when I hear from someone I hadn't heard from in a while.

Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong.

I usually at least respond and go from there. However, there are some people that contact me out of the blue, more than once. And nothing good ever comes from it, so I've learned to ignore those particular random calls/texts.

Uh... I don't know. I think we need more information. I message random people all the time. But I do message people from my past for varying reasons. So more details would help.

I don't make an assumption about that, I"m just cautious and wait and see where it's headed to. It could be any of those things you mentioned and more.

Update: It would really depend on how that person hurt me. I'm still the guy who'll be nice to people and see if they changed or if they are still the same a-hole. If the person seriously ruined my life then I'd seriously think about it and don't think I'd ignore them, but make up an excuse I can't talk right now or something. Eventually they will get the message I think.
