6lbs isn't very much, while I'll admit that if my boyfriend got fat, and I meaning very fat not a matter of pounds I would like him to loose some for his health, he has already had health problems from being overweight ( I really didn't think he was loved him just how he was but doctors told him he had too)
But a small amount of weight, is nothing.

But if 6bls really means that much to you and it's a deal breaker, you are not meant to be with her, and yes, she does deserve somebody better, and that's because you don't love her.
Before you dump her or say anything to her, invite her to hiking trips, biking trips and even start attending a marathon. You could also get her a couples gym membership so that she can tag along to be with you. The art here is that you work out and do so much exercise that the only way she can be with you is by tagging along. That will keep the weight off of her and you won't even need to say a word. While at the gym, don't boss her around and let her do her things... then at the end you compliment her ie. I love looking at your posture after work out, you look so strong and sexy. Note: Leave the skinny, fat any of those words out of your lingo.
If she is too lazy to work out and accompany you, then you can tell her in a blunt manner. "Hon, I love you, you are an awesome girlfriend, but I have a problem as a guy and the thing is overweight girls don't turn me on. Keep your weight on check."
If that doesn't work, then you can date girls who work out on a regular basis.

A size 8 isn't very big. The only thing I can think is that you might not like her body shape and she is small in height. perhaps the way her fat goes the weight has all gone to her stomach. If this is the case, then I suggest you do break up with her because body shape is something you cannot change very much. the way her fat deposists. if you have a problem with her with a size 8 imagine if she gains weight as she gets older... If you are so disgusted by her body, do both of you a favour and leave.
