I eat meat and won't ignore the fact that I like to eat it and it's generally good for us, but I do disagree with the slaughtering of animals for meat. Frankly I'm a realist in that even if a huge majority of people stop eating meat animal slaughter will still go on and that it doesn't really solve anything on a macro-scale. I would agree with outlawing the slaughter of animals for meat as there are examples of entire countries going with it for years and having incredibly increased health benefits that quickly vanished when they started eating meat again, but I don't think this will ever gain enough support as people just value taste and convenience over animal life.
In the end technology will be the thing that ends up stopping animal slaughter. They can already make meat in a lab through cloning, it won't be long before this becomes tastier and more cost efficient than slaughtering animals.30 Reply

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI eat meat, and never re-considered it. It is said that humans aren't so much omnivores solely, as we are opportunistic eaters in nature. Since we can't eat raw meat like many other animals in the animal kingdom, that makes some people believe that we aren't meant to be carnivores or omnivores. However, possessing higher level thinking is something of an abnormality in the food chain and it has definitely shaped our dietary habits by allowing us the means to learn how to eat our food without becoming sick or dying.
I'm on a bulking diet in addition to regular gym sessions, and eating meat is worlds easier than supplementing the nutrients I need with some kind of vegetarian or vegan food source. I have no problems eating meat anyway, so I have no reason to consider another alternative to nutrition.41 Reply- +1 y
Yeah, when you're trying to gain muscle eating meat is a whole lot simpler and more effective I think than trying to find whey and soy proteins to supplement.
I hate how biased people are towards certain animals. Kill and eat a dog or a cat in the USA and people will be out for your blood. They are viewed as loyal, intelligent family companions. Pigs are just as intelligent and sociable as dogs and yet we eat them with no remorse. Some people even look down on those who own pet pigs! If you own a dog you're no better than a pig owner. I have much more respect for a person who'd be willing to eat any animal (including dogs and cats) than a person who claims to love all animals while stabbing a fork into the steak on his plate. A cow or chicken has a life that is just as valuable as a dog or cat, and I just hate the ignorant belief that some animals are superior.

During the week I rarely eat meat. If anything then fish or those tiny ham cubes I toss in my pasta. But if I go out or cook with friends, I eat meat.
I've tried going vegetarian, our whole family did, but after like 3 months we got sick of the smell, the same taste everyday, same texture of "fake meat", and we feel tired and less energetic all the time. At that time we also didn't consume dairy because fresh milk and yogurt and the likes weren't all that common in my country. Milk is very rarely used and our yogurts are über expensive and suck! So I think we were almost vegans... And again, we felt weak and tired all the time.21 Reply
+1 yI'm a pescetarian. I know, it sounds ridiculous. I haven't eaten fowl, beef, pork or game meat for about 8 years. I've been eating fish and seafood for the past 3 years. It started out for animal rights and environmental causes. I try to eat local and buy from small fishers markets nowadays. Plus, it's just healthier, in my opinion.

Funny thing about being a vegetarian in a meat-loving third world aka developing nation is that you realize others have varying definitions of the word "meat". I would say I don't eat meat and still find chicken/fish in my food.

I stopped eating for those reasons, but eventually had to eat more fish to raise my weight when I lost so much after getting dengue. Plus, I'm only a pescetarian now for environmental reasons.

+1 yI am a vegetarian and there are some obvious down sides of it. The only thing that bothers me is when people complain about eating meat and then cover it in sauce. Its like you are killing something and then saying that it dosnt taste good enough to eat, so you have to cover it in something.

Salt is essential to the body. Too much of it is when you need to be careful, bit it's not a terrible choice topping-wise if your diet is low in sodium to begin with.
- +1 y
I wasn't really referring to salt or butter. It's just that I see my little brother cover chicken is ketchup to the point where it's mostly ketchup. That is what bothers me
+1 yI was a veg for 8 years and a vegan for 1. I've recently, about 2 years ago, started eating meats again.
I started the veg thing for health reasons and felt really great! But when I tried the vegan diet I probably took it a bit far and started having negative results. I had to take a lot of supplements and it was very expensive.
I moved in with my boyfriend and that's when things drastically changed. One day he made himself pork chops for dinner. While I had a plate full of veggies, I couldn't resist trying his food.
It was the best thing I've ever put in my mouth! I absolutely love his cooking and decided to incorporate meat. However, I still can't eat much red meat. I get horrible stomach pains when I try.10 Reply662 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I eat meat but it's something I could live without. It isn't like I'm obsessed with it or anything. I probably couldn't live without pasta or noodles but I could live without cooking meat. I guess the time it takes to make isn't worth the taste to me haha

+1 yI see nothing wrong with eating meat and nothing wrong being a vegetarian. I eat meat, but I'm very selective about what kind I eat and how much meat I eat. I'm a terribly picky eater. I'll have beef and chicken usually. I'm not a huge meat eater and I could easily cut it out of my diet if I wanted to.

+1 yI eat meat, and while I respect people who are vegetarians because they believe in it, I absolutely despise the arrogant wankers you tend to get nowadays who claim that they're righteous vegetarians and promptly call you a filthy murderer for enjoying a chicken nugget.
30 ReplyI eat meat... why? because I always have, I love meat and we are by nature omnivorous. I never though about going vegetarian because I need it and I couldn't even think on giving up on a good steak or a good chicken
40 ReplyI eat chicken meat, quail and fish meat but I can't eat red meats for some reason.. Ever since i was small. I chew and chew and chew and chew and it won't go down. o.0 So i just avoid it completely, i can't eat it. I suppose it's a good thing after all, white meats are far more healthier and leaner.

+1 yprobably bad karma to eat meat but hey guess i just can't help myself. some would say that mother nature never designed us to be natural predators, we dont have class or amazing speed/power like a lot of great predators do like lions. but we were given "amazing" intelligence to utilize our environment and surroundings to hunt and catch animals all the same. claws or no claws, we made sticks with sharp points on the end and strategical hunting for the win

iam totally against cattle production from feedlots though, cattle need space and fields full of grass, not stuffed into cages and force fed corn which they can't digest even with their 4 stomachs. also agianst large industrial chicken farms that also stuff chickens into tiny cages and make them make eggs until theyre useless and ground into chicken nuggets or whatever. though i think most eggs are produced like that, iam a sucker for eggs though so iam probably guilty of regularly buying those eggs. i used to buy "organic" eggs from chickens that apparently were free range but got too expensive

i also have a theory that eventually mankind will have to go vege and probably have to start eating bugs to maintain a sustainable society. so much more crops could be made in place of meat producing animals
+1 yMeat=Protein. Protein=Strength. This is why alphas in the animal kingdom get first dibbs on the carcasses.
34 Reply- +1 y
Right, exactly- strength. I eat meat to increase my power. It's purely for performance reasons. There are also interviews with Tobey Maguire after his first Spiderman movie. He's a vegan and they asked him how he got into shape for the movie... "a lot of tofu" and supplements... which is unnatural and another reason why I don't go vegetarian/vegan.
Yes you're right about all the downvotes. These people really seem to be close-minded/prejudiced haters. We have incisors for a reason my friends. - +1 y
We definitely need protein, but meat isn't the only source of protein though it is a heavy source of it. Really you don't have to go as far as some say to get high amounts of protein with a vegetarian diet.
I'm not actually a vegetarian, but I do respect the willpower involved in the lifestyle. Also note that you're talking about carnivores that only eat meat. Humans are omnivores and lean much more towards herbivores, you can compare our physical structure to herbivores versus carnivores and see this. - +1 y
Yes but the vegans that are down voting the meat eaters feel that it's sacrilegious to eat meat. That's why I mentioned the incisors... and Molars are intended to eat grains and greens.. Yes, friend, I already knew all that- hence my sobriquet.
+1 yI'm all in favour of eating meat. Make sure you eat the cheap stuff as well as the expensive bits because having killed an animal, you are obliged to eat as much of it as possible.
