What kind of health-care system should America have?

This question is to people living in America only.

Some facts to consider.

Before ObamaCare, 84% of Americans had health-insurance. Even before ObamaCare, 31% of Americans were insured by the government.

Medicare insures virtually all people over 65 (roughly 39 million people) and 7 million permanently disabled individuals under 65.

60% of health-care spending in the US is now done by government.

By 2025 at the latest, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and interest payments on US government debt will consume every cent of revenue that the US government takes in.

Free market (but government provides health-care to the military)

Regulation, but no welfare programs (but government provides health-care to the military)

Regulation, and welfare programs (Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP and state programs). But ObamaCare is too far.

There are huge efficiency gains possible with E from having a single insurer. Given the desire to insure everyone who can't afford insurance, there are big cost savings for the country as a whole having a single payer (i.e. national) health insurance payer.

Unlike your idiotic friends to the north (that would be me and my fellow Canadians ) that doesn't imply the government needs to actually run all the delivery of services. Private sector delivery of government health insurance can work fine. I also would permit private care as well, but suggest that if more than the richest 20% or so of people are choosing private care, you should probably increase funding to the public system.

The problem with Obamacare is that it wants to be everything to everyone.

Free market with our brave troops getting healthcare is the only way to go. The US governed has gone too far trying to take our liberty with unconstitutional healthcare laws. I'm okay with some regulation, but we need to keep the government out of our lives.

Social Security is funded through payroll taxes called Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax (FICA) and/or Self Employed Contributions Act Tax (SECA). This tax is kept separate from all the other taxes which go into our gov so I am not sure how it will create debt. Please explain

Ideally I would want healthcare to be a non-profit entity to provide coverage to everyone, in theory it makes sense in practice i can't imagine it being good since there is no reason for them to improve what they do.

The US use to have public hospitals in the past. Mainly to take care of and screen immigrants for any diseases while they were waiting to be allowed into the country.
If we want to look into Healthcare and who runs it and how it's run, the first question should be, why is so damn expensive? Not just plain expensive, unreasonably expensive. Without any sort of quality justification for the expense. The quality of healthcare is just as good as in many other developed countries but costs so much more.
One reason could be that paperwork is 40% of the cost of service.

How about preemptive care? Making sure people don't need healthcare beforehand.

But it's only part of the solution. Any system that doesn't also address:

1) modern hospital billing practices
2) Big Pharma's influence
3) exorbitant educational costs that encourage medical practicioners to inflate prices

Isn't ever going to work.
