is it possible that I'm really beautiful when I don't smile, but when I smile I turn ugly? its just that I never used to smile because I had braces (my teeth are perfectly straight and white), and when I got them off and smiled for the first time my crush stared me in the face and started laughing. so..is it possible to have a really ugly smile even tho I'm pretty ok looking when I'm straight faced?

Yeah it's possible. Some people say everyone is beautiful when they smile but they're full of crap lol. Not everyone looks better when they smile. HOWEVER, you probably don't look as ugly as you think for the opposite sex. For example I can't recall if I've ever seen a girl with an ugly smile. Because to me most girls are beautiful, even when they make the ugliest facial expressions I'm still attracted to them. So it might not matter as much as you think.

But I can totally relate to this. Unfortunately in my case I'm already not very attractive when I don't smile. So when I smile I feel it just emphasizes all my defaults. My eyes close, I get weird wrinkles on the side of my eyes, my eyelids get all bulky, my already big nose gets wider, my teeth aren't perfect so it's not something I'm particularly proud of showing, and I just generally look really terrible lol. Thankfully I don't have many friends so smiling in public hasn't been something I have needed to do very often.

Well did he ever actually say he was laughing at your smile/teeth?

If he didn't then you don't know what he was laughing at, so don't assume it was your smile. Like someone else said, I have never seen anyone with straight white teeth have an ugly smile.

I don't think so. People look better when they smile. Especially people with straight white teeth, I've never seen a person with nice teeth that had a bad smile. Sounds like your crush was just being a jerk.

I don't think you could be "ugly" just different looking when you smile. Don't not smile because you think you look unattractive.
