Do you believe men have become much more feminine and soft compared to previous generations? You hear women complaining all the time how there aren't any real men anywhere.

They have done studies on mental health of different cultures around the world, and the HEALTHIEST ones are small tribes where *shocker* men have ritualistic fighting and do things like hunt wild animals to grow up.

And then you look at our culture, where ANY kid fighting in school results in punishment and suspension/expulsion(because the teachers are 98% female and women believe any violence is the devil). You have women raising boys without a father figure and then the statistics *shocker* show that these men have the most problems in life. Is it any wonder that men have become emasculated wimps? The rugged tough guy, is usually the guy that got out of jail, and also happens to get laid more than 95% of the rest of guys out there because he has this alien thing *confidence* which he developed by breaking rules and taking risks, telling people exactly what he thinks instead of sugarcoating sh*t like everyone else does (the reason nice guys /girls fail) and not being insecure about every opinion/decision he makes.

Now its more important to "be nice" than to be honest, we have stupid bullsh*t telling everyone that "everyone's a winner" etc etc to inflate peoples egos into narcissism by "protecting their feelings", but what were actually doing is taking the easy route of lying to them instead of telling them the truth. The psychologists seemed to forget the common sense that competence is what creates confidence, not vice-versa. link

Do you think our culture turns men into softies?

I was thinking about this because the NFL season is starting up this week! 8-)

How often do you brush your teeth?

Here is the hypothetical situation:

You work in a large city, but too far from where you work to walk, and there is no parking so you must find your own way each day, other than driving yourself. Your options are the subway or a taxi.

The taxi costs $23 per day (one-way, so another $23 coming back).

The subway costs only $1 per trip, however there is also a considerable amount of crime on public transportation. Statistically speaking, you will be robbed twice per year. If you carry around a $50 in your pocket at all times, specifically for the robbing, when it takes place, your chances of walking away unscathed are exactly the same as the chances of not getting an injury in a traffic accident (while in a taxi).

Assume the bandits are plural and armed, so heroics on your part are not an option.

Also assume 250 working days per year.

Or school?

Maybe you had an OK or average day at work or school and you get home. if one of these five incidents were to happen, which would be the worst for you?

I'm debating whether to live on campus at my school or not. I just transferred there after two years at community college. Surprisingly, I was able to make a lot of friends at community college. It's whatever you make of it and I was very outgoing.

I've been extremely fortunate and am working at an co-op as well as school. It'll take me an extra 2 years to graduate because I alternate going to school and working, but I'll get financial assistance in paying for classes, and be able to graduate debt free and with at least $30,000 in the bank. Plus as long as I do well, I'm almost guaranteed a job after college.

The school I'm going to is considered a commuter school. Roughly half the population commutes. As a result, there are a lot of commuter-geared events, so commuters can stay involved. So I'm not sure whether I should live on campus or not. School is a 20-30 minute drive from my house, so not too far. If I commute, I'd probably get there early, stay the whole day, socialize, and leave around 4 or 5. So I don't see too much of a difference between commuting and living on campus, other than I save $5000 a semester by commuting.

I know I have the money to live on campus, but I'm pretty frugal and would rather save the money. Plus, I already got the "dorm experience" working at a camp. It was okay, wasn't crazy over it. I'm independent anyway so there wasn't too much of a learning curve. So should I live on campus or not?
