I work 61% of the time I'm at work. I work at a bookstore and 90% of the time I'm working at the registers. It's easy but it definitively keeps me occupied. If there's no one in the lines and there's someone else in at another register, I usually walk around the store assisting anyone who needs it or putting back books where they belong. If I'm the only one at the register, I have to stay there so I straighten up the area around the register. If I have absolutely nothing to do, I watch movies lol There's a Nook display with a TV right in front of the registers so I'll watch movies when I can. It's a nice way to kill time.

+1 yIf you make a crapload of money then why do you nerd a website like gag to entertain you? There are so many games and gadgets made for adults its not even funny. All you need is money to buy it. Even during work it is possible to play these games and use those gadgets.

Asker+1 yI have many things to entertain me, but the things that cost the most money are not always the most entertaining. Also, I need to at least "look busy", therefore whatever entertainment I use needs to be on my desktop.

I stand by what I said before lol
+1 yWhen I worked at a landscaping and gardening centre there wasn't much to do other than work. I could spend the entire 9 hour shift shoveling products like gravel, sand, mulch, or rock into 5 litre bags. I would help customers loading products into their cars like sod, patio stones or the 60lb bags of whatever I just shoveled. I once loaded 120, 35lb patio stones into a truck all in one go. I won a free lunch from my boss, hah! When things got slow I'd water the garden, sweep walkways and grade the gravel around the property so it looks nice and has no tire tracks.

When I'm at work in the morning and afternoon, I am working nearly 100% of the time, and I only stop working if I need a bathroom break or something. At night, still nearly 100% but I don't have as much to do so I have a little bit of time to just stand there, lol.
At my job, I have a set amount of work to do, and when I finish, I'm done. So the faster I work, the sooner I get to leave. So I try not to slack off.10 Reply- 334 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
+1 yThe kind of work I do entails dependency of a lot of people for their livelihood and I wind up working at least around 12 hours a day in which I'd say I work for at least 97% of the time. The other 3% I need a break from the hectic schedules so I unwiind by either playing a game or talking on the phone to my daughter etc
Not voting since the criteria doesn't fit my description :)10 Reply
+1 yI have two jobs.
The first is as a nanny. I mean, I really don't have to do much. Technically I'm "working" when I'm jumping on the trampoline with the kid, or eating, or watching a movie...
The second is at a clothing store. I'd say I work 90% of the time cos there is generally always something to do. It's not particularly arduous though.10 ReplyEvery time I work I MUST give more than 61%. Some nights I end up collapsing as soon as I get home... Other times I have to take a break when riding home as I'm too exhausted... The more I give, the better our service and that is what determines our outstanding reputation. On average, I'd say I give 87% if I include breaks.
On top of this I have college & studies...
Daily gyming...
Plus another job...
The reason I juggle so much pressure? To keep myself sane.10 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yyou almost read my mind.. I wanted to ask this question for so long.. I work as an accountant for a multinational.
My work is very fast paced and stressful. When I calculated what I needed to do to get the job done properly.. it was around 240%.. meaning that if I am employed to work full time job .. I needed to stay 140% more time to get the job done properly.
Naturally I couldn't do that .. and this affects my motivation because no matter what I do .. I can't keep up.. so I told this to my boss and she understands... but I work like 70-80% of the time and the rest I just feel so unmotivated.. so I could be daydreaming or reading an article on the internet.
Some days I am doing 100% ... but not always ...00 ReplyCurrently I'm not working, in my old job it was 61% + and I was working 18 hour days... Plus I might have had to get up in my 6 hours off to do more work.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yI just quit my job recently, but I was working as a saleswoman at an appliance store a while back and I worked about 15-30% of the time depending on the day. Since we worked on commission we were only really working when a customer was there otherwise we were just watching TV and chilling on the internet

Asker+1 yI'm 25 and I can't tell you where I work, but the field is business/finance.
I usually work around 70% of the time at my summer job, but then I feel guilty for the other 30% and do more work at home (I'm a technical writer, so I can just write up articles from my house if I really need to).
10 ReplyDuring the summer I worked for the government as an assistant and I'd work 61%+ most days, but other days when I'd finish my work early I'd just play candy crush.
10 ReplyAt least 90-95%. That's what I'm there for.
Not having anything to do at work is boring to the extreme. I'd quit a job like that (I've actually done that before).10 Reply
+1 yI work very fast and I'm always told by my co workers, that I should slow down. So I do. There's no reception at work. So I can't go online on my phone. So I bring a book, floor exercises and play offline games on my phone.
10 Reply1-15% for now... or maybe less since I'm just a convenience store clerk and the business is moving like a turtle right now. I can't wait to get my bachelor degree already! though I'm probably still gonna work 1-15% of the time as a web page designer. but at least I'm gonna make 150% more than what I make now
00 ReplyI work anywhere from 9-11 hours (depending on how much we have to do) and I'm working 100% of the time except when I take breaks of course. I get paid pretty well too, but work for every dime. I mean the work isn't too hard, it's gotten easy over time.

+1 yAbout 95% of the time, if not more. I work at a restaurant so I'm always busy. I'm only not working when it's slow.
10 ReplyUsually about 75%. I had a 7 hour shift today and there were a couple times where I was just standing there playing around with rubberbands and pens
10 ReplyWork... I don't feel comfortable getting paid and doing nothing. I believe that to be dishonest really :(
10 Replychanges on a daily basis... some days I'm bogged down, other days I struggle to find things to do. I'd rather be bogged down. Having nothing to do is excruciatingly boring.
10 ReplyIt's difficult to tell really. A lot of my work time has been wasted on this site though! :D

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yI work in a factory, so the entire I am there I am working unfortunately. The only time I am not is on our breaks.
20 ReplyI think the percentage lowers as the pay raises lol. I work a minimum wage job so I'm working pretty much the whole time. Yet my boyfriend gets paid way more and he sits around a lot.
00 ReplyDepends on the day, but typically I'm not working half. Some days can be busy and I'm constantly doing stuff. Others days have been literally nothing. Never go on gag at work tthough

10 Reply1.4K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I work in a gym, most of the time I'm watching football or talking to clients.
10 Reply3.3K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I said D but I work just about 100% of the time I'm at work accept for lunch or coffee break that I don't get paid for. With the low rates of work some put in it's no wonder the economy is in the crappy.

Lol true.
I look at the quality of my work. I do more in a few hours that most people at my company do in a month so I really don't feel bad for sitting still on occasion.
If I'm not working, I'm "thinking". yeah...that... :-)00 Reply
