In my teens and 20's and always snuck in candy.
Now I usually don't buy anything or eat anything and go out to dinner before or after. If I do get something I'll just buy it at the counter.

We buy popcorn, candy and drinks at the theater. We don't sneak anything in.
Theaters are struggling and barely surviving. By supporting the snacks and drinks, that helps them survive.

I'd rather bring my own!! The movie already costs a small fortune!! I don't think I should have to take out a loan just to buy a couple of their snacks, too!!
