What kind of stereo system do you have?

[exitseven]

Old style stereos are becoming more popular. Turntables , pre amps and tuners are starting to sell. People are integrating bluetooth speakers into the mix.

There are two stores , one in my town and the other in the next town and they both seem to be doing well.

Some guys really got carried away.

I am still using the receiver that I got when I was in high school

It’s funny how “old” sound can feel so fresh again 🎶
I use a simple setup: a mid-range AV receiver, two bookshelf speakers, and a Bluetooth adapter so I can stream from my PC and console. My boyfriend and I sometimes hook up a cheap turntable for game soundtracks on vinyl, which feels amazing during cozy RPG nights. I love that mix of retro gear and modern tech, without going too crazy or expensive.

I have a couple, only one in personal condition. A couple of Denon surround sound receivers that don’t work, I need to leave them in the alley for the tweakers or scrappers. An 80s Kenwood amp and tuner matching set that took a shit after I bought it last year, and a 22-year-old 200 watt Sherwood 2 channel receiver I bought brand new at Circuit City that refuses to die. Unfortunately there’s no turntable preamp or ground hook up in it and it needs really bassy speakers, but the tuner sounds great. Also two pairs of cheap Yamaha slightly larger than bookshelf speakers which aren’t that great, and a set of Bose acoustimass 5 series 3 or 3 series 5 speakers that take 200 W per channel and are very power hungry. Also a Sony 5 disc cd changer that will play super audio CDs

I also have a set of Miller and Kreisel speakers from the early 80sin storage that sound like the fucking Holy Grail got turned into speakers, but my brother blew up the subwoofer amp blasting In The Evening by Led Zeppelin about 15 years ago. My dad‘s friend paid $1500 back around 1980 for those speakers and you know why when they get fired up.

I still need to find a receiver that can do them justice

I think we have an app on the TV. 🫤. I like the good old stereos we used to have so much better. I have to turn on the tv, find the app, wait for it to load and it buffers on occasion or I have to let it know I’m still listening. It was so much simpler to turn a knob one click.

I got rid of my Heathkit receiver several decades ago and I now regret that. At present, I listen to music through the sound bar I bought for my TV.

I remember Heathkit. I worked with a guy who bought the color TV. He said it worked really good.

The receiver took me weeks to assemble but it worked great.

@ yes, things were made in USA back then.

I have a turntable with bluetooth to it, and some vintage cambridge soundworks speakers on it. I wanna get a cd player to hook up to the speakers too, i already have one but its dying out lol. I got my speakers from Ebay but before i had any i used to just plug an aux to my guitar amp

I don’t have a stereo system anymore. I’m more than happy with a bluetooth speaker. The newest ones have incredible sound quality and are perfect for my purposes.

Yamaha Amp, Sony CD, Sony MiniDisc, Pioneer Cassette, Infinity 3 way speakers.

I have NAD components and Acoustic Energy freestanding speaker. It's pretty low end. It makes me happy.

I got rid of my top of the line stereo system years ago.
