Do you like company holiday parties?

I was never invited to a Christmas party as I always started or left a job before Christmas or I got ill. Then one year someone dropped out of a prepaid party and they asked me to take their spot.
It was disastrous.
I had too much to drink because I was so uncomfortable and the boss was playing me for a fool trying to get me to take a drunk college home. In the end I rounded the people I came with up and left so he had to drive her and his family.
Had she lived on my side of town sure but she didn't even know her address it was safer for him to go to the office check her details and drop her home with his family.
We couldn't get into her phone and noone had her husbands number
Thank you for mho x
I like them. It’s nice getting to spend time with coworkers outside of the work setting. And it’s fun to dress up.
I worked fro a big tech company for a couple of years/ The firat year the party was at BIG venue. There were all kinds of food, a carving station, lobsters and other kinds of seafood. There was an open bar and a live orchestra. It was pretty impressive but fast forward one year and we just had the attack on the World Trade Center just my department had a Christmas party. We had it at a hole on the wall restaurant because one of the sales guys was related to the owner. I had a lot better time at the smaller party amnd I think everyone that was there said the same thing.
Yeah I like Christmas parties for my current job although no party this year or last year. There's always a little "action" under the mistletoe lol

Not particularly, no. And no, I'm not a scrooge or grinch; I just hate parties! Most office or department parties, you have to bring food or an item to contribute for said party, or you feel bad.
We just had a department party Tuesday- it was a potluck where everyone was asked to bring something-
I skipped it and got some work done instead while it was quiet in the office! Lol.
But I was nice, I still bought in a pecan pie...
I really wasn't all that into the corporate social scene. The boss liked ________, so we all did ________ . That's corporate life.
I was working a temp job and there were some nice people where who didn't expect me to bring something to the Christmas party (of course I did since I like cooking), so that was a nice treat being an "outsider".
My company tries to have parties for every stupid little things, typical german use every moment to drink lol
And I just hate them
Crowded places make me feel like I am drowning.
I was a part of many such parties during my career. As I started to advance I also started to be a bit standoffish during them. Finally, once I become the Manager of my region I stopped going at all. I also stopped using company money to get venues for them. Yes, I was a grinch. Then the people that worked for me took 100% of the load off the company and had fun. Honestly, I got tired of watching married employees pairing off alone with people NOT their spouse knowing full well what was going on. About 10 years before I retired I wrote a company memo approved by legal about conditions of employment. One item I discussed was co-workers boffing each other or having "other" types of contacts. I stated clearly if I see it you WILL BE TERMINATED! YES, I am THAT person. I detest cheaters and liars and believe them to be sub-human. I will NOT allow them in my home. I get some damn tired of imbeciles that say give them a second chance. I'm not one of them. You lie, you cheat? I'm done with you! PERIOD! This is my position after watching almost 30 years of this BS going on during company parties and picnics. Not just with my company. About 5 years ago I saw a big blow-up happen during a Major US Airline Christmas party. A Pilot's wife finally caught her husband. Yes, the Police had to be called. This is why I hate parties. I still have them, but even before Covid, I limited them to a few friends.
My work use to do a party at a pub or bar but because we are open til 10 most days some staff missed out. So we changed it to each site did their own thing on a particular day so staff from another site could fill in and we would do the same for them. So year before last we went to this giant farm petting zoo it's really cool you can walk around and pet almost all the animals. There's a famous video that was filmed there of a kid just about being taken out by a ram/goat (?) And his mother saving him just in time. Last year we went to the zoo. It was raining so wasn't as fun. This year due to covid we didn't want to risk it so we all watched a pre release of House of Gucci
I enjoyed them because I absolutely loved everyone I worked with and we would hang out outside of work anyway so heck yeah I'm gonna enjoy getting to eat free food with them lol
I used to work in management at a museum, so we were in charge of running our office Christmas parties. We used it as a full day to give back to our employees. We would come in super early, do all of their morning tasks for them which allowed them to sit and relax, and then we would personally cook them all breakfast, and then we'd each host our individual team Christmas parties instead of having a team meeting, and then we'd have a huge party at a restaurant for all the staff. It was one of my favorite days of the year just to see them all smile and have a good time.
Not since Covid... My last job though had some wonderful Christmas parties, worked at a football stadium here in the UK and used to be joined a few times from some of the players/managers/staff from the teams for the Christmas party do. Happy times lol
Yes but we had them in "the office" so to speak. It was nice to know that I was appreciated once in a while for my work and given rewards. Working for ACME/Albertson's was pretty nice. I mean the store layouts are a little dated and could use some new life being breathed into them with modern updates BUT the freebies and good medical was certainly appreciated.
nope... I send everyone home so they can spend it with their families
however, there's a little event in which the bonuses are handed and three lucky winners selected randomly will get some prizes so that is always fun... lol
Before Covid we had a Christmas Party every year. It was held at a swanky club with lots of banquet rooms. The food was fantastic. Door prizes were given to all. It was extremely enjoyable.
Bella I don't have a problem with workplace Christmas parties. They're fine. It's just that last year and this year we're not having them because of Covid protocols.
😊🌲🙋♂️
At my former job I always like Christmas parties it was a nice time to mingle and drink something. I never got drunk anyway but there were coworkers who did. Those activities but then Christmas holiday parties were changed to local all inclusive beach hotel trips for a weekend as that was much cheaper than organizing a full party
I used to work at a bank that would have their parties at a beautiful resort. We would get the rooms at a discount price, which we always took advantage of. It was a night to dress up and eat great food.
If I’m being honest though, we would leave early. We got that room for a reason, and it wasn’t for sleeping.
😉☺️
I don't care much for company Christmas parties. I will go for the food then get out of there before the crazies start with to much booze.
Not really it's work for me, just another assignment.
I always enjoyed them because I usually hooked up back in the day. Twas the season!
I dont do anything with my company. We have waterpark/pool BBQ parties and i still dont go
@spartan55 lol wym
I like company parties. I hope my staff members like 'em too since I'm the one who throws 'em. I'm their boss and I always put in a lot of effort to make sure our parties are enjoyable & memorable.
If I like the people that I work with, yes. Then I enjoy making food and choosing gifts for my coworkers. I also like getting dressed up and having a good time. However, I've also worked some less than ideal jobs where I've been forced to spend time, energy and money on people I don't like, which is not fun.
I've always avoided them as people tend to over do the booze and do stupid things. I'd rather not be embroiled in the inevitable fallout.
They somehow always manage to be even cheaper and disappoint even further 😂
Yeah they can be fun. I need to stay sober though or I get flirty and that could be very awkward to live with if I want to keep my job.
Am not so into Christmas that much so I don't like the idea
I do. Just hope the one I am going to this weekend, is decent
Don’t remember if my job had 1 in 2018. Went to the 1 in 2019 which I didn’t like. Didn’t have 1 in 2020. Went to 1 today and I still didn’t like it
I voted A, based on memories of long-ago Christmas parties. Haven't had one for last 4 years.
Cinco de mayo margs at work was fun at my last job 😅
Hell no!
I will not attend anything at which women are present.
That is where women entrap men into #MeToo situations.
All depends on the company. One year I threw a party with lots of champagne and Russian whores dancing on the tables.
To be honest I don't like them but I come to them.
Maybe one of these days I'll be able to participate.
I like them but as every party is virtual nowadays it’s not as fun as a real one.
There are fun games, gifts and food vouchers in virtual parties which I enjoy but human interaction is still required.
I like the current office parties because they're usually small dinners / lunches but don't like proper parties.
This question gave me an idea.
Have local wellfare offices have Christmas parties for all those who dont have a job, dont study or even have a home. Amongst these people, these Christmas parties, they can find new friends.
They're only good if the company splurges for really good food and drink.
Yes. Actually my job has a Christmas party every year and we all have a good time.
Not that's just something you do with your family and loved ones. The time off work and free food is nice though
Yeah this year were going to Hawaii for holiday party for the weekend
Waited all year to bend over one of the female new recruits always happens at the Christmas party
Generally, no. But one time I hooked up with a smoking hot secretary so in that case, yes!
You guys get holiday parties?
Never no Christmas parties when I worked
office party is just a event where no body really want to be in but they do it to show that they are together.
Work Christmas parties are torture.
I think most people avoid them.
Would never go to one
I haven't been to one. I'd like to.
I like them
💩💩💩💩
I don't really like it but I pretend I do.
Hell no I’ll avoid them like the plague
no. i take off so i don't deal with them.
