What’s your thoughts on eggnog?

Can you only drink it when it’s home made?

my dad made eggnog from scratch for years and I always loved it. But then we found the store brand Stewart’s and OH MY GOSH!!! I make a four hour road trip most years to get it at least one now.

Just feeling the holidays coming up and got to thinking. But what are your thoughts on it?

We all really enjoy eggnog, and there are a couple of local dairies that have a nice product. My husband insists on making it on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. He does a great job, but it takes a good amount of time and a whole lot of eggs and cream.

I think he only shares with family and close friends who come over on or around those holidays :-). There are some really good recipes online, his calls for a dozen eggs and who knows how much sugar and nutmeg.

I LOVE EGG NOG!!! I am Particular on the Flavor though. I used to Love Stewart's but One Year I found it Not as Sweet as before. I love Walmart's Vanilla Spice Southern Comfort and Now, Sealtest has Made One in a Store near to me. Happy Holidays!!! xxoo

Mmmm! I love eggnog (especially spiked with rum) with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. I've never tried making it myself. It sounds like a challenge!

Yep but it isn’t often an issues with how pasteurized the make it.

My husband's recipe calls for a dozen eggs. You bring it up to 160° and let it rest at that temperature for 10 or 15 minutes, so far none of us have ever gotten sick :-)

Pretty sure it calls for vanilla as well. NutMeg, cinnamon, I think he's used to pumpkin pie spice in the past as well.

I'm more into savory things.
For instance, I love buttermilk with some salt mixed into it.
