Why are people meaner during the holidays?

If anyone works retail, you know what I’m talking about. At first, customers will wish you Merry Christmas until you tell them we don’t have a certain item. What is it about this time of year people have this NEED to be mean? I honestly can’t wait to leave my job.

Stress and honestly some people have a real sense of entitlement. People om airplanes are the same, in one year I took 5 flights to other states and Internationally and everytime they were delayed because another passenger lost their shit over minor stuff, talking shit to the aircrew, even getting violent. Bullshit like masks, window seats, children, using the bathroom before take off

Those are the kinds of people who suffer from cognitive dissonance. They dont know how to be nice. I deal with people like that all the time. Sometimes the best you can do is be nice to them.

Nope! Literally everyone. Whether it be older people or younger people.

This happened a couple of years ago but an older woman wanted one of those T-Rex hot wheels tracks for her grandkid for Christmas. We didn’t have what she wanted and she got pissed. She talked to my store manager and he told her the best we can do is keep an eye out for it and we’ll give her a call. She gave me her number and said, “You better call me,” and walked off.
