The family held a formal meeting in the dining room several weeks back. After we called the meeting to order and I got the middle two boys to stop snarking at each other, we dealt with the pressing issue of what to cook for Christmas dinner.
In past years, there have been turkeys (infrequently), hams (most often), and beef roasts (occasionally). Always accompanied by a stable of stuffing, candied yams, corn, green bean casserole, and cranberry sauce. This year, however, that was not to be.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer indicated that budget was not an issue. Hearing that, boy #3 asked for teriyaki chicken cooked on the grill. Boy #2 leapt on that grenade and asked for cheeseburgers. Boy #1 seconded their motions and it passed with a unanimous vote. Well, almost unanimous. Our daughter wanted McDonald's but she got vetoed.
So, this Christmas, we are grilling. More accurately, my ass is out on the deck in 30 degree weather grilling.

I’ll literally be cooking it so… this is a first and the worst 👐 lol
Mashed potatoes. The two foot long turkey went bad (not my fault theirs), so maybe some chicken breasts or chicken wings for the meat portion- whichever I feel like 😍😒😂
Angel hair pasta (my fave). Some good-for-the-heart Spanish rice
and some corn on the side, so we can say we’re healthy PEEPEL! lol
Cake and cookies for desserts.
Yum. Haven’t had my lunch yet so this makes me hungry. Think we’re going with a roast with potatoes and gravy added in around it toward the end. Veggies. Only brandy and butter balls for treats. Didn’t do Christmas cake or mince pies this year either, we’ll get some from the British pub.
Do you have family traditions for food?

Ham, collard greens, broccoli. I am doing a low carb diet. No bread, no macaroni & cheese, no desserts. . . except those I prepare for my mother.
Macaroni and cheese
green beans
corn salad
peach cobbler
We will be cooking ham with pineapple, sweet potato casserole with pecans on top, green bean casserole, deviled eggs, maybe mashed potatoes, hawaiian rolls, and then whatever gravy we're using. Dessert will be apple lattice pie, another pie, and then a cream pie. Other than that cookies & chocolate galore.
Rib roast, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, homemade egg nog!
My grandpa's macaroni salad is a big hit at my family's Christmas party, but I always make miniature chicken pot pies or miniature turkey pot pies...
Miniature chicken pot pies are basically muffins with chicken pot pie filling, but miniature turkey pot pies are the same but they have turkey, dressing, and gravy inside of them, like a Christmas dinner in a single delicious bite.
On Yule night, it'll be stuffed duck with roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, fresh bread, etc
I am having a crab boil and girl I thought you quitted G@G, did you gotten bored and returned or just took a little break or something else
We'll be having turkey, stuffing, corn, green beans, and a cake. I didn't buy candy canes this year, instead I bought candy cane flavored Marshmallow peeps. I also but a Christmas popcorn tin and got one free.
Christmas dinner will be a spiral ham, baked ziti, mashed red potatoes, green bean casserole, broccoli, deviled eggs, and garlic bread.
Like Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Eve is always pizza and beer as it’s a family tradition and day we typically have turkey and all the fixings.Various vegan roast type things, potatoes, vegan yorkshires and stuffing with veg and vegan "pigs in blanket"
Turkey, ham, a leg of lamb. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, Brussels sprouts, stuffing, mixed vegetables and I'm having another crack at yams this year after the great yam debacle of Christmas 2021. Sherry Triffle, apple pie.
We usually do super chill meals like sandwiches.
Raclette.
Everyone can eat whatever they want, no need for much prepwork. We have the traditional feast of the 7 seafoods on Christmas eve.
Funny for you to assume I have Christmas dinners lmao
Nada... we're going to the local church for dinner! My SO will make a dessert of some kind, but that's about it.
