What do I do? My friend gave me money. I feel so bad?

Okay. Number one she’s a really nice person she’s got a lot of money though. I refused money from her a LOT. I’m on hard times and she kept insisting. I didn’t see what she gave me because it was in a envelope.

It wasn’t forty or fifty bucks as I expected. It was enough…. Well over a 1,000 dollars and she won’t let me give it back. She just said to get Christmas for everyone and pay My bills.

She’s my friend. I’ve been staying with her for a time until I can get back on my feet. I feel bad because she’s already done so much for me. I don’t like feeling like a leech. But I’m very greatful for her

I have been in your same position. I always hate feeling like I owe people even if they are genuine friends/family who only give from the heart and expect nothing in return. What I've learned from my own dire situation in which I was gifted some money that literally saved me from debt, is accept it. They give because they love/like you, and don't want to see you struggling. You of course are grateful for the gift, you say your thank yous and just make sure you use it for the intention to get yourself out of the pinch and hopefully not get back there if you can avoid it. Then for me, it was a matter of paying it forward, not back, a few years later to another friend who had a bit of money problems because you know what it's like.

it's Christmas time, don't let a good gesture from someone that cares make you feel bad. instead be grateful! people are the most happiest when they are grateful and when they can do something for others. so 1. she is happy she did something good for you, and 2. you can be happy by being grateful instead of feeling bad and therefor unhappy and guilty to spend the money. Don't compare yourself to others, always try to be better than your self and be grateful for achievements and for what type of people you have around you which treat you well. That would be disrespectful of her gift. Just treat her like a loyal friend. Never ever hurt or mistreat her. Always be there for her as she would be for you.

Just say thank you and accept it. The world isn't fair. She had the means and saw a friend in need. I would do the same. Once a friend asked me to help with his rent, so i did. I didn't know if I was going to be repaid ever. Years later he paid me back. Someday when you are better situated you can help someone else.

I agree with Liam. You don't need to give her like a thousand dollars in return, just continue to be there for her. If you know her well, maybe give her like a photo in a nice frame that she could cherish or hand make something. Handmade things are cherished the most, I can tell you that right now.

I know a best friend of mine gave me a picture she drew in school, STILL have it hanged up for nearly 20 years.

Been in a similar position, I didn't spend the money, just kept it in an envelope, and when I left I put the envelope on the mantelpiece with a note saying "Thanks for this, but I didn't need it".

I did not put the envelope and the note on the Mantel til I left her place, If she won't take it back just leave it in a draw with a note wrapped around it and forget about it, and then don't stress about it, you've put it out of the way and don't think a bout it again til you have to leave or til she needs it.

Well that explains everything why she's so generous. I'm a christian as well lol Thebreason your friend doesn't want you giving ther money back it's because we believe you are taking away our blessings so thank the Lord because honestly it is a blessing. This was no coincidence about the money God used your friend to get you the money that you need. It is a blessing thank the Lord called it a day.
