Certificate of Deposit rates are still somewhat on the good side so I’ll journey down to my local bank & open up a CD & let it roll & make an extra $14,670.00 until I come up with a plan. In addition I’ll take you out for a two dollar chicken dinner.
@static_in_the_atticAnd how much in taxes do they take on that interest?
@Orangekiss Unfortunately from 10 to 37% depending on your taxable income & to top it off you are going to have to pay taxes on the $300k (Gift) as well.
Ouchie mama!!
@Orangekiss like everything you make your money & the government makes theirs.
Thanks for MHO :)

My answer is probably boring , but I'd love 300k clean , I still have a mortgage on an investment property in Australia , that's $270,000 , so Id pay that out , with the extra 30 k , Id invest in a REIT , so this would give me around an extra 3k income per year..
Can someone please send me 300 k? hahahahahaha , its a lovely idea though.
Oh the house would be clear , so that returns net $26k plus 3k = 29k per annum , that would be great " cream on the cake " and no worries , beautiful , beautiful.
Plus then my kids get a house each , if I were to drop off the perch.

Get me one of these and live in it.
have the doctor fix my leg. anything left would go to my brother to pay him back for keeping me alive this long. Uh, on a happier note, HE would spend it on the rest of my family and give us a chance to travel a bit.
Invest in starting my own business and hopefully grow it to the point I can easily pay that back. $300k free and clear is a huge game changer for anyone.
After I pay off my mortgage, repaint and replace the worn out carpets and replace the car with a slightly less battered one I might be able to get a meal out. At KFC. As long as I don't order coleslaw or milkshakes.
That would just about clear mortgage and debts. Maybe a little for a new car or a small slush fund. Though more likely OH would want to spend it in developing house and I'd still be paying the mortgage for next 20years
Pay off some debts and then give some to my favorite charities for kids, such as Smile Train, Feed the Children, Guide dogs for the Blind, and Schriener's Hospital.
there are two friends that are in a bad situation that is not of their making I'd help them pay off their debt from that and then build myself a new computer. Would leave some a lot it for random things next year.
Add it to my current portfolio
50% Index fund stocks
25% CDs/Bonds
25% High yield savings
If I was younger I'd likely do 290k S/P index fund and blow 10k partying.
Put it into the bank and let it grow. I've got all else I need, thank God.
Probably invest it honestly.
I might retire on that and what I have already saved.
£240,000
Business growth, gold jewellery and a little investment to finance some exquisite scotches
Pay off my student loans, buy a new car, give some to my mom for her financial assistance to my while I was in school, give some to charities, and put the remainder in the bank.
Buy a shack out in the sticks and chase animals though the woods, go fishing and just generally fuck off into the sunset
Build an underground bunker and sell it to a doomsday prepped for 10 times as much.
Invest it, save it, pay off home, take a vacation. Donate to favorite charities. Then see how far I can stretch my investments
I would buy you and me a ticket for a vacation and get to know you.
I'd take a special someone out on the town. I'd invest some, buy a new truck, pay off my house
Give it back and tell them to bless someone else who really needs the blessing. God has already blessed me. "Merry Christmas"!
Schedule up all the renovations we have planned and then retire.
Investing it for more bags 💰💰
Spend the big majority on wine women and song. The probably waste the rest lol
Honestly I would just give it to my family
I'd buy a Corvette
Pay off all of my bills and invest the rest
