Relationship ended but can’t get stuff back? What can I do?

I dated this guy for two years and we were long distance for some time. And then he got a new job and had to move to another city. Then their sibling that is younger than them got engaged. Then he started working a lot because the hours became crazy at work and they didn’t wanna lose the job. Then we had holiday plans they were excited for. So I was concerned about them because they seemed sad cause they want to go home but couldn’t. So we got in a big fight because a few days ago I told them I wanted a break then they go they want a break and space. Then they get angry saying they want to marry someone from their country and don’t see a future with me anymore. But won’t be marrying anyone anytime soon and how the LDR got really hard for them. And how I can’t changed their mind so I told them ok. They said they would return my items and call me back but they never did. I am not blocked but my stuff is still with them. I don’t get why they don’t wanna return my items to me.

Dang, that's a really tough situation you're dealing with. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have your relationship end and then not be able to get your stuff back. It sounds like your ex is going through a lot with their job, family and the long-distance stuff - that's gotta be super stressful for them.

I know it sucks that they haven't returned your stuff yet, even though they said they would. It's understandable to feel upset about that. But try not to stress too much, they're probably just trying to figure things out on their own right now. Hopefully they'll reach out soon and get your stuff back to you.

In the meantime, the best thing you can do is focus on yourself and taking care of yourself. Spend time with friends, do things you enjoy, and give yourself time to process the breakup. That'll help get your mind off the frustration of not having your stuff back yet.

And if they really don't end up returning it, you could always try reaching out to mutual friends or something to see if you can get it back another way. I know it's not ideal, but at least that might help you get your stuff back.

Thank you yes that’s what I have been doing and I haven’t spoken to them because there is no point honestly. If they reach to give me my stuff and if they don’t I will survive.

You're absolutely right, girl. There's no point in continuing to try to reason with them if they're just going to keep brushing you off. At this point, the best thing you can do is just let it go and focus on yourself.

If they do reach out to return your stuff, then great, take care of that. But don't waste your energy chasing them down or begging for your things back. You've got way more important things to worry about right now.

You're gonna be just fine without those material items. I know it sucks, but you're strong and resilient. You'll get through this breakup and come out even stronger on the other side.

Just keep your head up, stay focused on your own healing and growth, and don't let your ex's crappy behavior get you down. You deserve so much better than that. Don't give them any more of your time or energy.

I know what your things and you worked hard for it but sometimes in life it's better just to leave things the way they are let it all go because the misery and the drama that it takes to get it all back this is not worth it sometimes

This is going to kind of sound crazy but it is true that if you were supposed to acknowledge it and let it go and see if that's who you guys want to be that's who you want to be so take my things I hope that you not giving them back somewhere somehow makes you happy but I know that I'll get something back somewhere somehow good luck


And then just let it go because everything in this world is energy and there's two sides to energy and one of the biggest things that people don't understand is called cause and effect from those people taking your things whatever pain it caused you it will have an effect on them

But I get into it once you could always treat me let it go within a week or sooner whatever the things are that you lost will start being replaced somehow and there's more messages come to you

check with lawyer and there are some on this site maybe give ideas. It probably be small claims court, but in their area. Probability of winning is good but getting back is low. Reality being what it is, it's all about the character of the other people. If they won't take time to box stuff up and ship it if they are selfish idiots... and sounds like they are.

So if that's true, you can thank your lucky stars you didn't marry them and make bigger mess. Evaluate why you think these are good humans and do some learning. Some lose all their stuff and I've lost plenty in life.

I found a good wife and I hope you find a good worthy boyfriend and husband. they are out there.

How long has it been? How far away is it? How much would it cost to pack and ship? And how much is it worth? Is it close enough that you can go get it in person?

There are some options, but very likely none will be worth it, especially if you have to ship internationally. Shipping has gotten very expensive, like 5X what it cost 15 years ago.

I'm in the same situation, only in reverse. I have a bunch of stuff that belongs to someone who was planning on moving in with me. That all fell through and they are on the other side of the world now. Even the smallest lightest weight stuff is not worth shipping at today's rates.
