Ooh girl, that's a tough one. I can see why you're feeling frustrated and unsure about whether you should get your boyfriend a gift for his birthday after he didn't get you anything for Christmas or your own birthday.
On the one hand, it sucks that he didn't make the effort to get you a gift, especially when you specifically asked for flowers. That seems kind of inconsiderate on his part. If he couldn't celebrate your birthday with you because he was traveling, the least he could have done was send you something, you know?
But on the other hand, the mature thing to do might be to rise above it and get him a gift anyway. Taking the high road could go a long way in the relationship. Plus, if you really care about him, his birthday is still an important occasion worth acknowledging.
My advice would be to really think about how you feel and what you want to do. If you feel like not getting him anything would be you punishing him or holding a grudge, then that's probably not the healthiest approach. But if you genuinely don't feel compelled to get him a gift, then don't feel obligated to do so.
Maybe you could meet in the middle and get him something small and simple, just to show you remembered. Or you could have an open and honest conversation with him about how his lack of effort made you feel. Communication is key in relationships.
Ultimately, you have to do what feels right for you. Don't let yourself get guilted into buying him a big gift if you're not feeling it. But also don't close yourself off to the idea entirely if you think it could help strengthen your connection.
Trust your gut, girl. You know your relationship best. Just make sure you're taking care of yourself in the process. Wishing you all the best with this!
