Would you eat Christmas Dinner out of a box?

A British supermarket is offering a Christmas dinner for four people in a box. It consists of precooked turkey, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, stuffing, and bacon wrapped sausages.

Looking at the images it looks more like something I'd knock up as a snack at 9pm than a special meal. There's no cabbage, sprouts, or any green vegetables and no Yorkshire pudding, which is sacrilege.

I think it looks terrible, but what about you? Would you buy Christmas dinner in a box

Some people don’t have cooking skills in their small family. It’s a bit sad but that’s how some live. It seems cold and bleak but others have less. A frozen apple pie heated up with a scoop of ice cream would help make it more cheerful here in the US. I’ve never had Yorkshire pudding but i will keep an eye out for it. (I have just read up on it and I don’t think the Brits understand what a pudding is)

This reminds me of the Santa Clause movie with all the men taking their kid to Denny’s on Christmas Eve.

Hungry devil eats flies. By the way those sausage on the top look rather like they passed digestive system already.
Maybe it's an option for people who can't cook or aren't capable to stand two hours in the kitchen.
I've seen worse especially on university cantinas

Not for me. Pretty much matches what most people here think of British food.

I think the important point missing here is the price... If it's very cheap I could see some people buy it if they can't cook or afford anything from a better service.

Sainsbury is one of the more expensive supermarkets. It's not one you'd see poor people shopping in. I can't see the product appearing to their traditional affluent customers

@lilBigPotato It's disappointing you don't have high notions of our cuisine. We let in 10 million people, largely from the third world, over the past 20 years; purely for cultural enrichment purposes/to improve our food. It seems like it's all been for nothing...

British foods quite good if it's done properly. The problem is too many places take short cuts with technique or substitute cheaper ingredients.

I mean, to be fair, most people do have bad teeth. But not everyone.

For Thanksgiving i ordered a turkey dinner from a local barbecue restaurant. It was really very good! I don’t have an objection to a meal coming from a box per se. However, none of that looks very Christmasy to me. I definitely want green veggies, and i prefer whole turkey to processed turkey lump. I’ve never had a Yorkshire pudding. I suppose that i’d be open to trying it if that’s a traditional Christmas dinner in the UK and i were visiting. “When in Rome” and all that.

Many supermarkets in our area offer something similar, but it's not in a box. It's several boxes of meat, vegetables and dessert, a complete meal

There is a place around here that will do Thanksgiving in a box. I suppose this would be th same thing.

Certainly not. And what the pictures show looks very far from what a real Christmas dinner should look like. If I'm really too lazy to cook, I'd go fetch something at the Chinese (take away dishes) or the chips man (French fries shop).

Out of choice, I wouldn't buy a meal from a box, but many aren't as privileged as I am.

My hat is off to the supermarket for their generosity. If you don't like it, buy what you want.

I don't cook, for a few reasons, but neither would I eat that which is shown.

My Christmas dinner might be a PBJ sandwich, or maybe a frozen pizza.
