I'm sure you've heard that some guys like girls who "don't know they're beautiful" and that, this fact, makes them even more beautiful.

And I'm sure you've even listened to songs that say:

Well, guess what, you don't need no guy to let you know you're beautiful. And plus, What if you did know you're beautiful?

I used to get very annoyed when I got comments from strangers while I'm walking on the streets, like "Hey, beautiful, what's up?" or "Wow, you're such a cutie" or "Hello pretty, you look smokin". But a couple of days ago, I saw this video and after that, even though I did know I was beautiful, it made me look at several situations differently. For instance, yesterday at the supermarket, I was with my sister on the escalators when some guy hurriedly passed us and said "Excuse me, beauties". He did have that perverted look but, for the first time, I took that as a compliment.

That doesn't mean that I'm gonna be responding to perverted strangers when they compliment me. Don't get me wrong, it still bothers me when being catcalled but, from the inside it should make you go like:

So yeah, I thought about sharing this with my fellow gagers to make them see that they actually are beautiful and they don't need a guy to tell them that for them to believe it.

I normally don't like these kinds of things, but that video I actually agree with. "You don't know you're beautiful, that's what makes you beautiful" I never liked that line, I don't listen to their music and I couldn't care less about their opinions but it just sends a signal that men likes low confidence in women, so they can swoop in like the night in shiny armor and save the damsel in distress - which is not true. They make it sound like women are supposed to under validate themselves, it's a terrible mind setting.

I just think rather than going into attack mode, you should know what the video means: That women (or anyone for that matter, this is just an issue women face more frequently) don't have to under validate, hate or put themselves down, to be seen as attractive to males. Makeup is in most cases just about enhancing your natural features, looking like a better you, it doesn't mean you hate yourself. According to that logic we should apply that way of thinking to all aspects of life; If you work out to look good, you must hate yourself, if you wear flattering clothes you must be deeply insecure. If we should go by your logic, everyone should just be an unwashed blob, because surely that's how you show you don't need validation from anyone but yourself?

Almost everything I hate is in this take, Paris hilton and a bunch of shitty music, lol. (Well dont know John Legend so can't say anything about him). But I do agree that you shouldn't need a guy or girl for that matter to think or embrace your own beauty but it is much more attractive in my opinion being humble. Like someone who walks around thinking they are so beautiful and what not kinda automatically makes them less beautiful, hence also all these phrases of someone being beautiful who dosent realise it cause it kinda makes them more attractive when they are less cocky sort of. Can be the same about guys too, although seem to be much less when I think about it. Yes, I agree with your point of view, especially when you said that guys can have the same jerky attitude when they know they can get any girl cause of their looks. But I gotta say, you rarely find a girl who's beautiful but doesn't know it. I met sevreal I would say really, that genuinly dont consider themselves beautiful at all, yet they are quite the treasure and beauty, easier way to spot those is that they often can be pretty shy and wouldn't post any pictures of themselves for example or post pics for attention.
