Interesting, but for the girls I've had experience with, I'd say the ratio I even lower. I've known more girls that reject everyone than ones to even admit 1:5 guys are attractive. But I'm working with a smaller sample size admittedly.
If you check the chart, they don't actually say 1 in 5 are attractive.
They say 1 in 5 are above 'medium'. 4 in 5 were 'below medium'.
The more I find out about how women think and operate, I can't help but think "why even fuck with them?" I don't know.
Yeah, but that's NOT the point of this take. That data's been kicked around for a while, absorb it, then reread the take, which is much more optimistic :p
I see your point but my question remains. Women have never made me happy. Quite the opposite. And the sex has never been worth the tidal wave of bs and drama they bring.

I guess it depends on how you define it. Oral around 16-17. Full sex 22.
All I wanted to point out is that while it may be true that women have 'never' made you happy it's been a relatively small window during which they've failed. You haven't yet hit your prime dating years as a man.
Ok trends actually has some fascinating graphs showing that young women have a huge dating advantage, older men a small advantage. Te crossover point is somewhere around 27 if I recall properly.
Interesting but a lot of attraction preferences can go out the window if someone has something in common with you.
I am a handsome guy and have dated people who were not in my preference just because they act a way that interest me. My last girlfriend was below average but was a very nice girl who treated me right and could relate to me in many ways

So basically women only find 20% men attractive enough to have sex with based on looks alone. Maybe 60% of men are attractive enough to have sex with if they have decent looks plus good personality traits. And then the other 20% are fucked.

Probably like 20% of women are hot enough to date even if they're bitches, 60% are worth dating if they are also pretty nice, and 20% are fucked.
The only difference is all the top 80% of women are worth fucking, but that doesn't bring them a tremendous amount of joy.
hypothetically, what do you think dating would be like if technology ever got to the point where we could customize our face/bodies so we have complete control over our appearance. So basically if everyone had conventionally desirable physical traits and was like an 8 or 9 out of 10.

Interesting question. I think compatibility probably would matter more. Which would be a plus. I also think that it wouldn't change the fact that women are looking for a lot more than looks and compatibility especially in longer term partners.
It's one reason that i think you know, makeup etc is fine, and SOME elements of PUA (which I probably haven't read enough of) are fine. Teaching nice people how to be hot to their partners makes the world better.

I'm not sure if it would entice more girls to hookup. If not, then the girls who do hookup would just be able to pick based on more variables. It's possible it would encourage more to, but I don't think it would encourage all.
Ultimately for short term, status is something women like, and status is a PURELY relative thing.
so you think the # of girls who do hook up would mostly remain the same but they'd increase their standards on other qualities like status, humor charisma.
If men just want an ONS, indeed, the other 20% are fucked. What about the 20% of girls men overlook? I too plead guilty I overlooked many perfectly good girls in my dating days and feel a bit guilty about it, looking back.

I had to write the take anyway. People were quoting this stat without any nuance, got sick of pointing that out.
I will sometime need to write a take explaining the race data on oktrends, and i'm sure people will get mad at me because of the numbers even though i say not to take them at face value.

Well, no. Women not only see, women listen and feel. Stupidity and unintelligence are not attractive. There are so many guys that are not muscular or well-dressed.. They are attractive just the way they talk and smile and do ordinary things.
No one is attractive enough if you can't have a talk with them.
I don't fully agree with @dekalla but to an extent, yes. while I definitly am attracted to many men without ever having spoken to them, those that I REALLY become attracted to it's after we've had a few conversations and I get a little "idea" of him.

I was trying to say that it's not that women are picky, it's that showing them a guy's picture and asking if he's hot is like showing men a woman's legs and asking if they'd date her. They need to be pretty spectacular for them to not be saying 'i need to see more'

I can't blame them. If they still have the ability to judge a person's attractiveness based on their face, they should use it. A lot of guys have forgotten that skill, or at least it seems to me that way anyway.

I mainly wrote this because I'd seen the oktrends article, and then saw it quoted here quite often as gospel but used somewhat out of context, imho. So I was trying to provide better context, particularly targetting the guys who'd cry 'see women are so picky they only want a few guys', which i think is stretching conclusions.
