A wedding should be unique to who the bride and groom are. It should incorporate your vision as a couple and what represents you both. As such, there are details that can help personalize your wedding and make it more personal and unique to you as a couple.
1. Honor those no longer with you
With so many family and friends coming to share the day with you, it can still feel a bit empty without those you have lost in your lives. Honor those that have come before with a moment of silence, a table to honor those that have passed on, an empty seat with a white rose, sew their name(s) pictures into your dress/tux, or carry family with you in your bouquet.
2. Give your grandma(s) a starring role
Typically the flower girls are, well, little girls, but why not let your grandma(s) shine in the spotlight by making them your flower "girls." It's a fun moment which everyone will surely take joy in to see this unique spin on the tradition.
3. Have a super unique cake
Throw the boring old traditional cake out the window and really show your personalities in a unique cake. It can show off your hobbies, your love of your favorite sports teams, your favorite song lyrics, or whatever you fancy.
4. Let your location be the star
Look for a unique wedding venue that really is a part of who you are as a couple. A favorite childhood spot where you first met, an under the sea venue for your love of the beach/ocean, or the place you both love to eat, or a campsite because you're both camp directors. You don't have to do the traditional wedding hall or outdoor garden if that's not who you are.
5. Spice up your escort cards
Escort cards are usually just printed on cardstock and lined up in neat little rows, but give your guest some fun eye candy with unique escort cards which will start them talking even before they have a seat at your reception. You can even double up and have your escort cards also be your wedding favors by just labeling them so.
6. Give out unexpected wedding favors
This another way to add a bit of creativity to your wedding. People are used to the same bag of chocolates, bottle openers, and other kitschy crap they'll never use or don't want and tend to leave behind, but make your wedding favors memorable by giving guests something they will want to actually use.
