Just to clarify, I cannot stand religious extremists or any other preachy extremists types that do nothing but spew hate into the world. This is far from that. However I do have strong opinions and this is simply another one of those....

I have also viewed marriage as a religious act, being someone who is not religious I have always struggled with the idea of non-religious people getting married. I myself have wanted to get married as I love the concept of it all however still feel like I’m ‘taking the piss’ or just screwing around at the expense of others beliefs when it couldn’t be further from the truth.

I believe a separate ceremony like a marriage should have been created for same sex and nonreligious couples as I feel a civil union doesn’t sound as strong of a bond as being ‘married’ does.

God created marriage as in Genesis chapters 1 and 2. Just because your opinion thinks it contrary doesn't mean your opinion is right-respectfully. You don't believe in the creator of marriage and his philosophy for it Ephesians 5 vs 31? Then don't get married
