It's not like they don't have a choice, so it's all down to personal preference. You can even double barrel the names of you want to I think that is a nice touch by the merging of two families.
Depends on whether she wants too and whether or not her husband will accept if she doesn't.
Yes, or how you are going to claim your identity and brand that you are under.
I don't think it's necessary. It justs impkies property!
Trust should be mutual without any obligations.
80% of divorces are initiated by the wife. She takes half his stuff and the house typically. You know, the stuff he worked for (cause women seldom marry down and take their chances with guys who have less resources than she has). It's not asking too much for her to change her name if she has the ability to take all of that any day she wants to for any reason. No way are 80% of husbands actually the scumbags those divorcees make them out to be.
The regulatioms are shitty.
There is a big list of stuff you have to talk about before walking that aisle and that is one.
Should a woman expect him to wear his wedding right as well?
Keep her name + add the new name at the last... problem solved... I don't get why its such an issue.
She should do whatever she wishes to do. It's her name.
If she wants to but I wouldn't ask my spouse to do that.
I would use my last name and my husband's last name together.
Well she doesn't have too. Its tradition that she take her husband's last name.
I think it shouldn't be necessary tor w woman to change her name
Yes, you are uniting two families. This is symbolic of the two families deepening ties.
Yes. A parasite should at least take its host's name.
That's up to her, I'd be honored if she did. However I guess I alre5am honored for having her.
I would actually change my last name
🥰😊❤ thanks babe!
Of course unless she don't want to show her man and his family respect
So you should also be changing your surname then, to show her respect and love. Or are only women supposed to be showing that?
Marge is two people forming a family i find it amazing that any one can find an argument like yours to be sustainable there's century's of precident and tridation to support the triditional wife swaps to husband's name. The husband who again traditionally has sworn to support his new wife and if U like it or not and wages are usually higher your argument also craas issues for children born are u suggesting flip a coin to see which family they belong to? Sometimes arguing for the sake of it is pointless and time consuming. Would you expect your husband to change to your sernname raise his children with a different last name to him?
Lmao what? Tradition? You know, the Chinese also got a tradition of women crushing their feet so I guess we need to carry on with backdated practices for the sake of it right? Knowing the parents? Lol just ask a kid what's their father's name or mother's name they can answer right away.
Sorry but at 18 you have no clue your oroving your ignorance and aragrance but stay strong sister because the world needs femanatzies to erode the traditions and the fabric of society itself
Oh shut up, you're only 49 and we have been existing longer than you did. By we I mean people who don't bother about last name and nothing ever happened to us. My parents have different names, my siblings and I all have different names, and so do everyone here and it's never bothered anyone.
Merge surname to create a family because it's amazing? Is this why y'all's divorce rate is higher than ours?
You are old motherfuckers 49. Who tf will marry you
I don’t think so. I have both my parents last names, and I have to write both last names when I’m doing important documents.
Traditionally yes but it is an archaic tradition that doesn't really matter anymore
If she likes her spouse's last name better than go for it, it's her choice.
do you think the last name Yablonski would be an acceptable choice?
@NatalieKeller95 Not my favorite, but surely acceptable
I don't think it really matters, in the end its up to the bride.
If she has a REALLY cool last name maybe we can discuss it but otherwise my wife will take my last name.
And if not?
@kim45456 re-read my post. "My wife will take my last name". Logically it follows that a woman who will not, will not be my wife.
And why dont you change your last name? What are you going to do for her in return? You except her give her entire identity like that?
You selfish bastard
It shouldn't be mandatory. It's supposed to be what one feels is right and comfortable with
It all depends the person choosing. If you want to change your last name go ahead
Absolutely the only reason you wouldn't is disrespect for tradition and him
It doesn't really matter. I actually would take the womans name tbh
I would think the majority of women would probably want to unless the guy's got a funky name
I def plan to
Like Cox
.. it's a widely used internet company... No kidding... Not trolling
If a man ever wants to marry me one day, yes, I will change my last name.
I don't know about 'should' but I'd expect my wife to changer her last name
If she wants to, yes, but she shouldn’t have to.
If she wants to, sure
If she wants to yes. If she doesn´t want to no.
NO, because my man will change HIS last name!!!
I see you getting a cat.
If that is what she wants.
She doesn't have to but she should.
Why she 'should'?
It's a nice tradition.
What's so 'nice' about this tradition?
It is a gesture that can show intentions of loyalty, which in a world where 80% of divorces are from the woman, loyalty is that much more important.
So you guys make the woman change surname for her to show loyalty and keep the marriage lasting longer? Then how do you guys have a greater divorce rate than ours when we have never done that?
I don't know what you mean but no one makes women change their names anymore. Today it's just a gesture of unity or oneness.
Also, I mentioned it's a gesture of intentions or where the heart is. It doesn't mean the lifelong loyalty is actually there. As for the difference in divorce rate, there's a plethora of causes and inluences. Two different cultures and customs.
I don't think anyone should HAVE to, by any means. If and when I get married, I want to take my husband's last name simply as a nod to tradition. I find it a gesture of loyalty, sure but also a part of my culture.
@Lightning8 so it literally implies that there is no reasonable reason for anyone to ever change their surname for their spouse. That's the point. The only gesture of loyalty is actually being loyal. And not taking some freaking name or buying a lucky charm or whatever.
That's ok too
Only if she wants to. It's her name after all.
Men are pillar of the home. So yes
“I’m not your bitch don’t hang our shit on me”
That should be her decision.
Only if her husband has a better one.
Yea, I think so, or hyphen it.
Not very
It is her choice
it is 100% up to personal preference
It's an individual decision of every woman.
Not sure it's necessary
Yes, shouldn’t have a choice either.
Retarded?
I think it's up to them
Yes she should that becomes the family name
No. I would change my last name for her though.
Not should, she can if she wants
Only if she wants to be one
It's her choice.
That's 100% up too here
If she like than its okay but not nessery
I'd not. Too much hassle.
Doesn’t have to, could always add to his
Yes.
Always.
Of course she should. It It shows that she is truly committed to him and their new family and the concept of them becoming one flesh. It's a beautiful thing.
Yes..
Short answer, yes.
Selfisg
@kim45456 Did you mean selfish?
Yes.
