What do you think about this (no wedding just signing papers and using the money to travel instead)?

My mom is against me and my boyfriend doing this because I’ve never had a quinceañera before. I do want pictures but I don’t want a big wedding or anything I just want to sign papers take pictures and use that money to travel instead and maybe we’ll eat a cake to celebrate? Lol My boyfriend agrees with me though. Me and him both don’t like big celebrations

That's what I wanna do lol. But if he wants to gold for his side of the family due to tradition then fine. I don't like crowds. A few close people... I think people won't even know I got married until they realise... my aunts, immediate relatives, two friends, male and female... my far away friends...

I think people treat each other better when they know family and people are sort of there for you but this is possible without a wedding.

I think it's you and your boyfriend's life to do with as you see fit, but just think for a second how you'd feel if 30 or so years down the line, your son or daughter wants to get married but not have a wedding.
Wouldn't you feel sad about it?

One way to handle this would be to have a very small wedding with immediate family and close friends, then have a simple meal or potluck afterward. It wouldn’t cost much at all.

Girl it's your wedding and you decide how to you want it. I say you are smart because you want to used that money on something you and your future husband will enjoy. Just an example even if you had a traditional huge party it's wasted money and people are going to talk anyways. Your mom needs to stay out of it your an adult and your mom needs to stop treating you like a child. Picture and a cake sounds a lot more fun. Believe me wedding planning is stressful as it is. I am 29 now divorce. And my ex and I spend 3 years saving up. A wedding dress that I grab the scissors and cut it into pieces when I cought him cheating on me with any other woman. Yeah a vacation sounds more like a smart idea. Party is just wasted money and things don't care me out how you want it. So save yourself the stressed.

Another thing brides maids that were my so called friends all turn into bitch's and my ex x stupid best friend he had him as best man I hate my e s friends guts and he didn't dance right. As you see it is a lot. so save yourself the stressed and do it your way.

Sounds like a good idea :). Marriage is for you and the wedding should be mostly for you, but nice to at least invite some people and do pics, toast and have a cake or so.
I was just at my sisters wedding, and we also had a dinner at their place after, but a pretty standard one, surely did not cost that much, though we all had a nice time. Most important was to be there when they signed the papers and be able to say congrats and hug them :D
