Saw a question yesterday that prompted me to ask this... Curious to know what qualities in someone make you say that they are "husband or wife material"?
Everyone has a different idea of what makes someone a husband or wife material, or an ideal husband or wife, so I would like to hear your opinion. What does it mean to you? What qualities?
He's relatively emotionally stable. He may have pain or issues in the past, but he hasn't completely avoided facing them, working through them. He doesn't lie about his past, nor live in denial of it.
He's emotionally supportive, and accepts support.
He's got a job/income, is not living beyond his means, has not created a pile of debt due to irresponsible behaviour/spending, preferably lives on his own, or barring all that, he has concrete plans for his future.
He treats others well, including animals.
He's not overly competitive, nor sees everyone as his adversary, and doesn't try to win every disagreement.
And most importantly, he's emotionally mature, has self-control, good communication skills, and can work through differences of opinion rationally, calmly, both thinking and feeling his way through.
These are the first ones that came to mind. I could easily make a longer list but I'll stop there, seems enough.
I had known my husband since the 4th grade, we never dated until the 9th grade then he moved 300 miles away before summer. We had always been good friends. We never thought we would ever see one another until My second year in college and He actually saw me across the lawn during the orientation. He stated coming towards me and I screamed and cried at the same time. I ran up and about knocked him over. I never told my family that we met up again until I brought him home for Thanksgiving and my mom about fainted. Mom made him stay in the kitchen with her the whole time to catch up. When you miss some one sooo much and you don't want to be anywhere they are not and your family loves them. Then you are pretty certain that you have found the one that you want to be with for ever. We are happily married almost 8 years with two children. Well worth waiting for. We got married just before we graduated college. Had I not met him again. I may have been like 25 or older before I got married. I have never wanted to marry anyone else and I never thought about getting married in High School. EVER.
I've been married for 44 years and I still have not figured it out yet if I'm marriageable material. I still act like a child and I also like adult activities. I will sometimes fall asleep in the middle of a conversation because my day has been very busy and tiring for me. I have found when my wife and I were dating we knew both of us that it was time to get married we still have good, conversations we have disagreements. And yes I sometimes enjoy our makeup sessions. Our children are all grown and have left the house. We are now looking forward for. retirement
Put simply, she would be someone I 1) respect, trust and admire 2) adore physically and can see myself still adoring when we are both old
I could go into detail on those things, but that would get into my personal tastes in regards to what I respect and admire about a woman's personality and values, as what I I like physically.
My ex said this to me in the past and it blew my mind because he was my first relationship and I didn't know there was such a thing as wife material or husband material until he mentioned it lol.
But I remember I would make him home cooked meals all the time. I would buy him special gifts to show how much I cared about him.
I always did little nice things and I would tell him I was proud of him, thank you for his hard work, I miss you, I appreciate you, you mean a lot to me and maybe other meaningful things.
And I remember the icing on the cake for him where he brought it up was when I told him I was learning how to sew. He said I was wife material then.
And I was like, "What? Wife material?" I didn't know that was a real thing because I was so inexperienced with dating. And I remember he asked me if he was husband material and I never considered it.
It never crossed my mind. Hate to say it he wasn't husband material he was too immature and he ended up cheating on me.
A part of me was just living for now. I wasn't worrying about marriage, I wanted to enjoy the relationship because it barely started.

Too many are terrible at communication and lack the emotional maturity to navigate a relationship; and typically change when it's too late or one partner makes it the other partner's sole responsibility to do more/be better to keep the peace/keep in the relationship/marriage going. Too many lack accountability and humility because they see themselves as the victim or the prize; in the end it's always "his/her fault, for not doing X, Y and Z" with little to no character growth from the "victim/prize" due to victim mentality and entitlement.
Someone you trust, respect and are compatible with. By compatible, I mean someone you agree with on important issues, like politics, religion, gender roles, whether you will have children/how many children you will have, how you will divide domestic chores, how you will solve arguments. Someone you can sit down and talk to about these serious issues with. And someone you can genuinely see yourself spending the rest of your life, good and bad, with.
They should also have good morals, values and bring something to your life which you wouldn't have without them.
The person that fits to you individually and that you want in your life, love and respect.
I hate this wife/husband/girlfriend/boyfriend material shit talk, it's just plain stupid to label anyone as the perfect worthy material... you can't put stuff like that into drawers. Your perfect relationship material person, won't be perfect to someone else.
There are many things that can create a better foundation for a lasting marriage. It's a good balance between a bunch of things. Basic ones are loyalty, kindness and respect between the two people. Then there are more technical things like views on politics, finances and religion. And then there's of course the physical compatibility aspect of it all.
It depends on the person and what they desire in a spouse. Different people have their own ideas about what makes someone a good wife. Here’s my definition of a good wife
•A woman who handles stress well •Who cares about your relationship with your family •Who is humble and will admit when she is wrong •Who expects you to be the leader of your family •helps you when your at your lowest
For me, “Husband Material” was a guy that loved and accepted me for who I am, with all of my faults. He is a man that I knew would love and support me, and let me love and support him-as he is, not as a “reclamation project”. I didn’t want to marry anyone who I wanted to change.
Believe it or not it’s not as much “similarities” as much “common interests” very different people can get along well in a marriage, but if one wants to be Lutheran , for example, and the other is Mormon; well let’s just say it’ll be a short and bumpy ride Point being, common interests, and true commitment is key
For Husband: Loves the lord Jesus Christ above all. Willing to provide substance and protection for the family. Honest. Understanding. Smart. Loyal. Integrity. Lead his wife and household in the ways of the lord (Bible). Willing to sacrifice for the family. Respectful.
For wife: Loves Jesus Christ above all. Submmisive. Honest. Loyal. Kind. Smart. Respectful. Polite. Supportive. Loving. Affectionate.
As a man in this day and age the women who are actively searching for what they want are usually wife material the ones who are wasting time on careers and feminism and independence are the ones to stay away from if she wants to be a wife she’ll be a good wife to someone cuz that means she’s eagerly willing to put forth effort and that’s the most responsible and attractive thing a women can do for a man seeking a serious relationship
Someone who is passionate about me, Good listener and talkative with me, kind, Loyal, having longer hairs, flirty with me only, respective, educated, girly girl, honest, not rude, not racist, pale, taller, very open minded in bed with me :P, Ready to give lot of blowjobs to me daily. That would be my ideal wifey type girl
For me husband material is a man that is honest, loyal, loving and kind. He tries to fix issues, and explains his thoughts and feelings to me. Also someone who is able to apologise when they are wrong is definitely husband material.
I don't know. Was told by a guy once that I wasn't girlfriend material. WTF does that even mean? Found out later he was looking for a "mom" in a girlfriend. Was SO glad that ended!!
Trusting, Loyal, open communication, ambitious and has goals, intelligence, maturity, compromising , willing to work on her problems, assertive, confident.
If I was a girl, or a gay man, I'd expect the same in guys tbh.
I want a Wife who will accept me for who I am and is kind-hearted, loves life, likes to cuddle, loves kisses, loves hugs, loves 50/50, is non-judgmental, etc.
Just answered a similar question. The main point is team work. Walking towards a shared goal. Mature enough to step back and observe before jumping into conclusions.
Someone who is stable, reasonably intelligent, positive, loyal, and empathetic.

Girls call be husband material most of the time but it's actually is an insult. They don't want to date me currently but want to settle with me in the future.
I can only say that to be in perfectly in perspective is paramount I don't have an official press release preferably as is Secret Service Protection I authorized this family members to protected underground
