People (even some feminists) are beginning to realize how badly fucked we are all going to be over the next decade and beyond as a result of the plummeting marriage rates. Western society is in very serious trouble for many reasons, but this is buy far one of the most serious of them.

We have all been fed a load of garbage in recent years about marriage benefiting men more than women, which was based on severely flawed studies that used older couples who lived in a very different world. It doesn't take a genius to see that TODAY's men get far less benefit from TODAY's marriage. And as the article rightly points out, men are avoiding marriage in record numbers and, as a result, the marriage rate has plummeted to an all-time low, and continues to decline precipitously.

Studies show that women today are more unhappy than at any point in recorded history. The institution or marriage is in deep trouble. The gender war, and the resulting ever-widening divide between the sexes, has resulted in the worst gender relations ever, and that gets worse every day.

The feminist model has failed both men and women by the most important measures, and we are only beginning to see the results of the societal harm it has already done.

They were all for it as long as they were taking advantage of it. The text was just scared to say that the time for freedom without accountability has come to an end, because it did reach the goal they wanted but with side effects. Even though the newer generations might go towards old-fashioned ways, they won't admit to their mistakes nor criticize the movement they supported.

Feminism is different in the UK but I'm not sure this is it.

The spectator is not a liberal rag, and the article does not appear to be written by a feminist.

It carefully opined that marriage is flawed but it has a purpose. It's just fallen out of fashion and had been beaten up by activists.

If women go it alone in raising children then they have to do everything themselves. And these men then have no interest in their plight.

Surely better to lock them into a long term contract, make use of their resources, and make it work emotionally too to the betterment of both parents and the children. You know, give them a reason to care. Radical stuff. And a new phrase - radical monogamy.

It finishes up suggesting that even the young are fed up with free love and are increasingly moving away from it.

I guess we'll see.
