It's a promise to spend your life living up to. The same for them. If wither fails to live up to it. They have something to lose. Me and hubby got married at the courthouse. Yes, but if you're not married, then neither of you get anything for all that time and love wasted if you break up. All those years, where as, if you divorce, whomever broke their covenant with the other now is on the hook, punishment wise, for breaking the others heart. Whether it is the man or the woman.
