Prenups: yes or no?

I saw a video about prenups. Some thibgs were crazy like the woman is not allowed to gain weight etc l.

When a couple signs a prenuptial agreement, they're anticipating and I would even say almost expecting that they'll encounter problems that they will choose not to overcome (and yes, they will choose not to overcome them).

Additionally, prenups can be challenged in court. All they basically do at this point is add another layer of complication to an already difficult situation which shouldn't even be happening in the first place.

Honestly, I've arrived at the point where I think a lot of people take prenuptial agreements more seriously than the marriage contract itself.

Prenup? Absofuckinglutely! Marriage is like a hurricane there is a lot of blowing in the beginning & when it’s all said & done your house is gone. As for me when it comes to marriage I would want to protect my assets so I vote yes for prenup.

If you don't know them well enough or trust them well enough to do it without one, then you shouldn't do it in the first place.

I wouldn't consider marriage without one.

I'd want it to have that I keep my house, any cars that have my name on the title (the ones I buy for myself), my savings, checking, etc., any financial benefits from my job, any investments I make, all of my electronics, gaming stuff, everything I owned before marriage, and any pets that I purchased.

She keeps anything that she bought with her own earned money like car, etc., keeps her own checking and savings, and things like that too.

Keep separate checking accounts (not joined).

Basically we each keep what we earned and paid for ourselves.

Marriage is a great financial risk to the MAN, not the woman so it is absolutely necessary to have one. If she refuses, she is pretty much admitting that she wants to steal from him. Plus, wouldn't she want one so she knows that he is still married to her because he wants to be together and he is not with her just to avoid losing half of what HE earned?

Prenuptial agreements is very necessary like car, flood, rental, housing, life, etc. insurance. While you don't plan for marriage to fail, it is very easy for people to get divorced; divorce rates are still around 50%, but it could be less since less people are getting married. Because of this, it is vital for parties entering a merger to protect themselves.

I didn't want one. Neither of us had anything to protect. In this country you can marry with joint accrual or individual, community of property or not.

We chose not. Don't know why.

But it meant when I got sick in 2020 we didn't lose our house when the savings were gone to pay for the ICU bill from Covid and my shiny new prosthetic leg.

In most states there are restrictions, like any unfair provision or anything that violates public policy can be voided at the discretion of the judge. And attorneys love prenups because when the divorce comes they can make oodles litigating the validity.

Here's how I think it should work, anything accumulated prior to marriage should be that person's property anything attained after marriage should be split up if there would be a divorce

I've heard that prenups won't help you to keep your stuff. If she wants it, she's going to probably get it. I'm not a lawyer though... something to look into if you're considering it for real.

Wait... there's prenups for things other than money? Lmao... I wouldn't want a prenup. Once you're married you become one. You share the same bank account. The money both of you make goes into that one bank account.
