I still make jokes around the house where i start mocking this lady š

One of my more... unusual opinions is that The Muppets Take Manhattan is my favorite of the classic (or Jim-era) Muppet movies. But even as a kid, the wedding scene, where seemingly random attendees in the pews just bursting into tears, baffled me. Weddings are happy; why would you be crying? Tears of sorrow, of pain, of frustration- these I could understand. But joy? No, that made no sense. Mom kept telling me they were crying because they were happy, and I kept telling her that made no sense. Eventually, she fell back on "you'll understand when you're older".
Now, two and a half decades and at least a dozen weddings later, it STILL makes no sense. I have NEVER seen someone crying at a wedding in real life, and I've looked. The closest was an "I wish your father was here to see this" moment during the reception, but that was sorrow, not happiness. Well, sorrow and whiskey.
I've seen people cry at weddings on tv and in real life and i still say āwhat is there to cry aboutā lmao
Well, good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't understand it.
Maybe sheer happiness? An "omg is this really happening?". "I can't wait to jump them later?" Or they're a diva and it's crappy acting?
I just remember my wife was either beaming or cracking up because my mother was acting like an idiot (and so was my dad and his wife) and my brother showed up with Star Trek crap on his tuxedo. So, yeah, no crying at our wedding. 😎
I see myself nervously laughing/smiling rather than crying

Because crying isnāt always a sign of sadness. Sometimes somethingās are so beautiful and intense to the point that they cry.
Maybe i struggle to understand happy tears
My single life is over... my single life is over... Waaaa ;-)
Loll
It was over the moment they started dating
Probably a bunch of emotions hit at once realizing everything you two have been through has paid off in a sense and looking towards what they hope is a bright future. Its probably one of those things that you can't understand until you've had that experience with someone you truly love.
Now that part makes sense about the everything weāve been through up until this point
For a guy I would say this is both mine and my now wife's day she is dressed as beautiful as can be and that being with the woman of my dreams not just making me happy but seeing that my family and her family approve of us being together it makes thinking about all those dates we had the sad moments the happy moments and the dad may I ask for your daughters hand moment all that more special cause at any point in time during the time you were dating you both could have left and not had anything to do with one another but it's different
Thats sweet so i wanna understand but yea i dont care about the outsiders opinions
You ever have a delayed crying? Like something bad happens but you don't have an emotional reaction until you know it's definitely over? I think for me it was something like that.
Happened like an hour before the wedding tho lol, lucky cuz I'm loud crier. We did a little practice will the song last how long it takes to walk?, and he bust open the door and smile and it hit me this was it. We'd been together yea, but now I realized we were definitely together. And all the past shit came back at once like that was all over now. This was good. He was fucking amazing. Weird thing cause I was super happy ofc, but at the same time it wasn't "happy tears." What made me cry felt bad, even tho I felt good. That's the best way I can explain it. 🖤
Im even more confused but at least you're happy haha
Because the bride is stunningly gorgeous and the groom is excited to finally marry her 🤷🏼āāļø
My husband cried when I came down the aisle.
I see
I got married in January and it was snowing out. I was standing at the altar and all of a sudden the door opens and my future wife is standing there in her wedding gown. A big gust of wind blew in a bunch of snow and she looked like a perfect snow angel. There was not a dry eye in the place.
Well damn sounds like a winter wonderland
Crying doesn't necessarily mean you're upset or sad, but rather it's often the reaction to any kind of strong emotion or physical pain. When I saw the Sistine Chapel for the first time it brought tears to my eyes because it was so beautiful.
Brides cry because for most of them, it's a day they've been looking forward to for their whole life. Everything they built up and dreamed of is now happening, so the emotions are just bursting.
I get that people have happy tears bt i dont get happy tears
I never had a big wedding so I don't know. We just got married by the justice of the peace. All the people we know that had big weddings are now divorced. The ones who got married by the justice of the peace are still happily married. That's why we did it. Neither of us cried at our wedding.
Wow thats kinda scary lol. I want a small wedding but not courtside š
I kinda stopped looking. I mean if he comes along great but i kinda want the kid more than the man so im not tryna break any hearts rn
I want at least one bio child so i always look into invitro as a backup. But lately im thinking surrogacy. And then iād love to adopt at least one kid bt they have be like 3 or 4 and already be potty trained
For sure. I used to help take care of other peoples kids since i was 5 up until i was like 12. So feeling like a big sis or a mom at that age definitely made me want to be one
But theyāre not 3 or 4 years old lmao
Seeing the one you love looking so handsome or beautiful and knowing that that person that I love so much and who loves me so much is finally becoming mine and that we'll be spending the rest our lives together just as we have both wanted for so long. It's an incredible feeling of joy, happiness and true love. It's feeling I hope to feel that feeling one day my boyfriend.
Yea but i dont cry when im happy so ig i dont get it
Itās usually the grooms gaze that does it. They look at you as if you are a dream. Itās pretty emotional already, but to see the volley of expressions cross their face is wild and rare and stirs everything up.
The gaze would just make me smile harder. I don't know i guess i just dont get it. Even when watching a movie and my mom stats crying at the wedding ceremony, iām like ohhh cut it out, this is not little house on the prairie, what are you crying again for
It is one of those things you have to live it for yourself to get the full weight.
relief that they chose them because they could have not down the aisle, relieved that they are finally at this point in their lives happiness joy, overwhelming. These are just my thoughts.
That makes sense
Those are tears of joy.
Usually, when a woman cries during her wedding, it's because it's a very happy moment in her life.
Ohh okay
I have no idea at all. WTF? My eyes will water if I am laughing hard. But laughing your way down the aisle would weird too.
I said the same though like iād prob laugh before i cry š
I think you have to laugh at the over acting.
I am diverting here but the thing I most like about Royal weddings is that staunchly anti-royalist women still get off on Royal weddings and stayed glued to the TV the whole time and discuss the dress at length with each other. So hypocritical you have to respect it.
Neither of us cried during that part. I cried during her vows because she sang them. It was a song. I almost cried during mine, because I meant them more than anything else in my life.
Aww thats actually sweet
People often do cry of happiness so its common that they cry cause they're happy or touched by emotion, weddings are often a very special day for people.
I guess its more of a āi can't believe this is happening cryā? I don't know
The partner might be looking gorgeous.
Pre wedding jitters
Probably a once in a lifetime event
If I cried it would be because I would get to see the person that is going to become my wife walk down the aisle to me, how beautiful she looks and getting married is something that would never be a reality for me
Would you get mad if she laughs
It depends why
Nerves, emotions because traditionally they don't see each other for an extended period of time
Lose of singledom, responsibilities
It must be different there. Over here they dont se eachother for like a night/12 hours š
Oh... No because they would have their hen and stag parties
Yea we have bachelor/bachelorette parties but the couple still sees eachother during that day, just usually not after 5pm til the morning of the wed
Oooh that's different some people now go on girls trips and boys trip abroad 3 days at a time
Iād be so mad lmao. My trust would go out the window š
I balled my eyes out at my wedding. I was so happy, I felt overwhelmed by it.
Guess i won't know til i try lmao
I didnāt cryā¦but I can see how people could. It is the culmination of a lot of work / stress and everyone is there.
It is a relief once everything is underway.
Oh yea the stress of getting everything right. I already know im a bridezilla
Your answers are always so well thought o. Iāve been trying to be fair and not give you mho each question
Maybe the realization that he got this far, that he gets to marry the person he loves.
And her reason for crying is the same?
I hope so. Imagine the opposite, out of sadness like "fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck"
It's hard to explain, it's just one of those moments where you're so overwhelmed with emotions that you can't contain it.
It's a big day. Usually the groom is not allowed to see the bride before the wedding. How beautiful she looks and the thought of spending their life together is what makes them cry
I guess
GAG is annoying me because i can't see anyones emojis anymore so it shwos up as a complete blank text
I think they just want to make it more interesting and romantic and they start to cry lol
That would make it depressing for me rathed than interesting lol
I thought they are usually so happy and the emotions just take over there body. Also the bride always look so amazing. I never cried at a wedding but I am also not a groom or been married.
I'd be crying because it would be dawning on me that the act is likely going to be a life destroying mistake on my part.
šššš
Because at this moment he knew that he fucked up 🤣
Lmao whatever
As a man who just got married 5 days ago, it was being overcome with love that made me want to cry
Awww
The fact she is leaving her family for him.. a new chapter of her life
I distanced myself from them long ago so nothin to cry about š
Iād be jumpin for joy throwin rice at their ass šš
It's because it's an emotional moment. And sometimes it just hits you and it can be overwhelming.
Oh okay
@DizzyDesii Maaaaannn, I haven't seen Ever After since the year it actually came out! That's a throwback right there.
by the way, check out the girl at 1:40. Isn't that Rose from Two and a Half Men?
I didn't watch Two and Half men. I only know the 3 guys on it. And i watch Ever After every 5 years
Oh, okay. Cool
That was my thought too, if crying she might have just realized it is for realā¦..
Lol yea
I guess she be missing the dick and hopes shit goes down soon. so that she can feed on it.
Wait whaaaaat š
She be thinking about one thing, āwhen is this wedding š ending, so that I can ride that dickā that is why she ends up crying lol
No idea. I never got that either.
Yea like what lol
Thats what i keep wondering like whats different about today than the other 365+ days y'all were together š
Probably out of happiness I guess
This might be the dumbest question I've seen
You can always leave
You're 27 and still retarded
Ya mama
I thought you said "You wish"?
Its another random question dude. ain't nobody gettin married lmao
I watched Teen mom and these mfs crying at the wedding
I'm glad to hear that's not you!
You were gone a longtime, so I thought there was a surprise there!
Im tryna pop up pregnant lol
You have someone?
Dont need someone to have a baby
Are you practicing immaculate conception?
I don't know what that is. I told you i always look into invitro as a backup
Get a donor
true love...
Iāll prob never have it in that case
they probably felt the same at some point, but then it happened to them...
more to reasons for them to feel that overwhelming happiness and joy
Happy tears.
Iāll never understand those. I smile when happy not cry
