Today's men have grown up in a world where women say they don't need men and it is unfashionable for women to show any appreciation for men, individually or as a whole. With that in mind, any appreciation you show him will be a big deal. It doesn't take much. Just tell him you appreciate and value him, show appreciation when he does something for you (men show their love by doing things for their woman) and treat him respectfully.
