What do you think or know about arranged marriage and would you be able to do it?

Obviously, the two people must be free to refuse if the partner does not suit them, otherwise it would be forced marriage, not just arranged.

Otherwise it has some advantages. People do not just meet by accident, but as a result of a careful choice made by people who know the potential couple well. They will choose people of the same religion and similar background which is a good thing.

For men who are a bit shy it is a huge advantage to have this help. I know some Muslim friends who might otherwise easily have stayed single involuntarily, despite being university-educated and successful. This counts especially for traditionally-minded guys in a country with strong hookup culture.

Girls will always find a partner if they want, but they often make poor choices of men. In an arranged marriage, bthe matchmakers also have some responsibility and social control so that the husband must treat his wife well.

I don't know why people think arranged marriages are "better".

Sure it saves a lot of time but it has a risk factor.

Families meddle in relationship and try to fix it and won't let you divorce if not working out. It will become a mess.

Not against them if you got dating experience but a person who never dated in life tend to not enjoy a peaceful relationship in the middle. Beginnings are fun. Its recklessness

I am just picky about who I will marry and I want that to be a man I feel absolutely attracted to, someone who I love, someone who loves me and someone who sees how special I am for him, someone I trust, someone who I trust, someone who makes me feel protected. That’s the most important part for me.

When I am with him I want to feel like no one can mess with me, that I can close my eyes and trust him.

I remember telling somebody that asking my parents for help is no different from committing suicide. My dad does not care if the guy hits me or cheats on me or lies to me, as long as he has money. I would rather die than let my child hating mom and stingy dad choose who I marry.

Never! I think it takes a long time to get to know someone on a deep personal level. To spend the rest of your life with someone is a MAJOR decision that should be made by God.

Yes i would be able to do it. My parents know me best. So if they believe they've found a match for me, i don't see a problem in meeting my potential match and the family. If it works out, then its up to the two of us to decide if we want to proceed with this relationship. Otherwise if its a no, then next match.

Arranged marriage have common for thousands of year and have been successful. Parents, being older, wiser, with more experience would make better choices.
