Nope. I know a person from the middle east. When she graduated her friend called her brother and told him she knows this wonderful girl and he will be insane not to marry her. Seven kids, big house, nice cars, great vacations. The mother in law and the other sister in law gave her a little headache at the start because they wanted someone else and she was pretty but not super pretty. But she is really nice. The husband adores her and the father in law loves her. My point is there no such things as one standard. But when you get older you understand that as long you are ok with their looks and you truly share common morals and values things can workout great.

I have no exposure to arranged marriage, and wouldn't put up with it anyway.

Honestly? I think a lot of people would be better off if they married someone that their parents picked out for them (within reason).
