If he’s saying what I think he’s saying than yes in a way it makes sense. In my culture, yes the man may purchase the house or build it, but he’s doing it for her, not for him. So even if they’re married it’s her house because he’s the provider. His job is to protect her, to build a home for her, not him. Although yes he lives there ultimately it’s her house because he knows what his responsibility is as a man. In our culture even the land that the tribe gives out to tribal members, the women get the land. Yes he may work the land, plant, etc, but again she still owns it cause he knows he’s the provider. Of course this is still based on older, gender roles but that’s how it is for my people. I will say though back when my grandparents were alive, marriages lasted pretty much all their life, so he knew building her a house he would be there w her for the rest of his life. Nowadays a lot of women are divorcing men even if he’s perfect, have her everything, she just got bored of him.

I think 'a guest' is a term that represents two souls that are kind of far away when in my vision two people that marry sre very close, I don't think its a good word I would say a man becomes part of the air she breathes and vice versa
