Yes, I would think twice before marrying them, as I just personally prefer to be surrounded in general by people who value self-improvement. If he doesn't want the opportunity to be the best husband he can be, then that's a sign of narcissism that he'll always try to be the one that wins arguments, even ones that start by you calling him out on something. I would at least ask him why he is against pre-marital counselling.

I would instantly break up with any woman that recommended pre-marital counseling. It proves that she is a narcissistic manipulator and is looking for a third party for triangulation... She is not capable of communicating with a partner on level ground and is incapable of being in an adult relationship.
