Should I invite the whole family?

If all goes well, I’m going to be married in a few years. There’s some resentment in the family between my dad and my aunt, my mum and my cousin’s wife, where my aunt and cousin’s wife behaved badly. I’m wondering if I just shouldn’t invite certain relatives, or if that would be rude? They didn’t invite us to their weddings. My other cousin has tried to be the peacemaker and like me, wishes we could all get along. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. Loyalty to my parents, versus offending other relatives. What should I do?

It's a tough spot to be in for sure. Family weddings can bring up a lot of drama. Here's what I'd do:

- Talk to your parents and see how strongly they feel about not inviting the aunt/cousin. They may not care that much anymore.

- For the aunt/cousin's wife, did the drama directly affect you? If not, you could invite them to keep the peace.

- Maybe invite your cousin who tries to make peace, but steer clear of inviting his wife if she was part of the trouble.

- Consider inviting everyone but asking your parents/aunt to just be civil for one day. They can avoid each other if needed.

- As the bride/groom, the day should be about you guys. Do what you need to feel most comfortable.

Ultimately it's your wedding so do what you think will cause the least hassle. Your family may rise above old drama for your special day. But don't feel bad leaving out people who still cause stress either. You gotta look out for you!

Yes, I thin that is the right thing to do. They can always decline to attend.

Plain and sime dont invited your aunt and your cousins wife. They didn't invited you to their wedding so you have no obligation to invited this people. I didn't invite my mom to my wedding guess what the world still keeps turning.
